Rear hatch tent

My father called and has a neighbor that wants a tent that fits on the back of his 80 series for a week long campout they are going on with a bunch of Youth. I've seen them for other SUVs. You fold down the tailgate and lift the hatch, and the tent just extends the leg room inside for sleeping. I've got a Mombasa that I was going to lend him, but he and his wife are older and don't want to be climbing the ladder. He's looking for something like this

I haven't ever seen one for an 80 but figured the brain share here would know better than I.

I've always wondered if there was something like this for an 80. More simple than a roof tent and doesn't add to the height of the vehicle! I'm interested in this as well.

Here are links to a couple of threads where I discuss using the DAC tailgate Tent. It will work, but is a general fit, rather than specific to the 80. I ended up modifying the one I got, but they come in different sizes. It's discussed in the threads, so read through and if something's not clear, be glad to answer here.

Try DAC Inc , I believe Campmor.com sells them also, perhaps for slightly more.

When I Googled "DAC truck tent" it was the second result listed.

I got mine from Campmor.com. They have free shipping on orders over $100 and the DAC comes to $109, IIRC. Good deal and fast service if you get the DAC from them in my experience.

This is the Kelty Carport Deluxe. Costco had ridiculous deals on these several years ago ($75). It can be used as an awning or the sides can be folded down for privacy. It is a little cumbersome to set up.

Now that is the best one of these that I have seen. But curious how you seal up the sides? Didn't look into the site too much because not in the market but seems to be the best IMO.

Unfortunately, the SafariSoftshell is apparently no longer in the business or ? In any case, I was unable to come up with a viable way to contact them. It's a nice looking tent and was where I got the idea to add the floor to the DAC tent to mod it to fit the 80 better.

It is model 40819211. The Kelty website has it mounted on the side of the truck, but can mounted on back as well. It can be configured as an overhead canopy (pic below) or as shown on my previous post above.
