This repair is in my future as well.... Question though. What is the problem with running bolts through the frame if you sleeve the holes? Is this a frame weakness issue with the holes? I was planning on welding plates and using some square tube but I really hate welding on my back.....

I as well am a "Acomplished weldder and fabficator":D and have decided to rebuild the back 1/2 of my frame from where the inner channels are butted and welded, about 3-5 inches from where the frame kinks and tapers to the frunt. i'm going to use 5x2 tube with a 3/16 wall thickness. i think by niching pie srctions out of 3 sides of the frame to get the correct angles to make the hump over the rear axle, with some inner plates plug welded and burned through to it should be better then stock. oh and yes the drain holes the factory over look.

i'll get some pics and make a seperate post when i have time.

update on the fab, if you can...

this is jim using syvers log in ;)

we have been working on this today.
straight bar with the mounts up high.

looks like the rest of whats left of the x-member coming out of the frame will have to be ground flush with the frame.

so start grinding!!!!!!

i'm thinking about using a long bolt for the shock mount instead of the way the factory set it up.

i'm on it without a camera.;p

here ya go brian :D

this one is done!

2x2x.120
1/4" plates

WOW! That is nice! I just had this repair done a few months ago, and the bolt in idea looks great! The quality of your work looks great! I wish I knew how to weld like that!

that is so nice! let me get back with you regarding the shirts and stickers. and yes, i can have die cut stuff done. i've never seen a real life mud sticker so i can't tell you if it's 'like' that. but i do know a guy who can die cut vinyl.

2bad - you build steel fab's like a pro.

I like it !! Nice goin' !!

if you put a 2.5" lift on your 60 you may be able to run the stock shocks by mounting it upside down ;)

i just got this thing in the mail...
it is more substantial in person than in the photos. thanks for priming it before you sent it, jim.

I will sand and prime and sand and prime and sand and paint this weekend. I will also grind the old stubs off the frame and put the thing on.
I don't know if it's worthy of pictures but they might show up.

thanks again!
