Rear Air blows cold but not hot: Ideas?

how in the world am i getting hot air up top? I am confused. I actually tested it today.

Could be the air sitting in the vents is hot if your truck has been outside since they run along the roof. It's really cooled off here in SLC, I'm going to check things out - thermometer and all, when I get home tonight. See if the air coming out from the center console is as warm/hot as the air from the upper vents.

EDIT - ~20* difference between the floor and the roof vents on heat. So I don't know how you're feeling hot air out of the roof vents. Warm maybe, but as hot as the floor vents. On full heat it's hard to hold your fingers in front of the floor vent for long. Also, for further proof, if you set the back controls to auto and slide the temperature from hot to cold and back, it automatically selects roof for AC and floor for heat. The truck knows where the air should come from.

So, to recap:

98 - rear heat only (but you do get to choose high or low fan!), no rear controls, only dash
99 - rear heat standard, rear AC optional with 3rd row option
00+ - both rear heat and rear AC standard

wild. Same issue here. Warm up front- cold in the back even with selector moved to hot.

My old man was in the third row seat and said that it blew ice cold air even with the control turned to hot. I will have to try it out again tomorrow to see what combination/control activates it. Maybe "Auto" from the driver over-rides the rear?

Its starting to get cold here now in Atl. And I tried the rear heater in my 2000 LC. I had my boy set the heater to 85 heat and Upper vents, and indeed the upper vents blew cold air. When i tested it switching to the floor with high heat i got Hot air from the floor vents only. So looks like no heat from the top air vents past 2000. Not sure why they did that.

No heat from upper rear vents in my '99 either.

This is terribly off topic, but does anybody absolutely hate where the rear heat comes out?
Yes, could they make the outlets any smaller for such a large area. It's ran through my mind how I can add some additional supplies, haven't able to come up with anything.

You are not supposed to get any heat from the upper vents.
Cold air is heavier than warm air, that's why the AC vents are up there.
Hot air is lighter, that's why the heater vents are at the floor.
The front heater heats the whole cabin, more or less, but doesn't reach the footwell for the back seat very well. So I say that the rear heater vents are exactly where they should be.
