The climate control is mostly functional in my 2000 TLC except for two issues, one constant and one intermittent. The temperature control knob is sort of broken in that it only has two modes; if I have it all the way cold then the ac works and blows cold. If I set the knob to anything aside from all the way cold, the heater kicks on and the AC goes off. So, no fine control, and the only way to control the temp is through the blower setting.
The other issue is that on occasion when the AC is on, it'll cycle off and blow hot air. This one has me more concerned as I'm worried that one day it's going to just give up and no more AC, and I'm in Texas... I assume also related to the rheostat. I started tearing it down to take a look but it's all surface mount electronics and I don't have the tools or the patience to troubleshoot this blindly. I haven't had much luck finding this same issue when I search (lots of fairly similar problems with these control units but nothing quite like this). Anyone able to help point me in the right direction for what to evaluate or how to fix?
