Well, thanks to my "MALE NURSE" friend Wileycyote's prodding, here is my first attempt at body work.
I had horrible body rot on the PS rear quarters that I decided to fix and while I was at it, I thought itd be a good idea to chop the rear quarters to make way for my wrap around bumper with swing out.
Also gonna rhino line the lower line of the rig cuz I think it looks HOT and it will hide the shotty body work I did!

Here goes!
In sequence of build.

Imfrigginpressive work, Chicago!
Way to deal w/ the rust the proper way.
A little 'liner and that'll blend right in.
Now figure out some 1/4 protection so you don't fawk up all that nice work. I know I plan to.

Edit: Man, I'm not gettin all BrokeBack on ya, but that is seriously nice work for a newb or not.
You are a quick learner, my friend!

Sealing the deal!
This was a PITA...How the hell would you close the chop off?
The back side of the rear quarter was the issue with all of the contours and the rounded portion of the filler neck. What I did was cut it off in a straight line, then used that piece as a template to trace the contours on to my sheet metal. From there, I tacked it all into place, and if there were holes between the material, I pounded them flush with a body hammer as best I could.
It was HOURS of spot weldng, wire wheeling and grinding!
Came out OKAY...Im glad that Im gonna be rhino lining and bondoing, so hopefully it will all come out ok!

It seemed like a simple project at the time!:D

God knows I LOVE IT!

Thanks man!
I appreciate it!
I sure takes a LOOONG time to shape and weld that stuff!
I have a whole new appreciation for you folks who do good body work! I made about 2 or 3 passes around, SPOT WELDING that under plate... Id grind it off, see some holes, weld em is, grind, weld...etc.
Id much rather be welding some heavy material than these flimsy ass panels ANY DAY!

Im figuring protection for that, DEFIANTELY!
the wrap around I drew up looks pretty good on paper, so hopefully it will come out like I envision it!
Gotta get a tube bender though!

Thanks for the props Wile E!

damn you beat me to it!

i need to get my welder hooked up so i can start some body modification, hell much less get the SOA goin.
Its cold her (for texas) and i would still be motivated to freeze my arse off for a SOA.

Looks good tho man.

Nice job there Chicago - i'm going to need to do something similar like this to mine soon I think. I'm currently patching the hole with bondo to get it to pass state inspection here in PA but I think i need a longer term solution.

nice job!!

I'd like to see pics of the entire cruiser looks awsome! Great job on the 1/4's too.

SOA is the SHHHIIIZZZ!
One of the coldest winters we had here in NV was last year, and that was when I decided to do my SOA!
Im not terribly bright some times.

Get on it and do a write up!

Dude it looks awesome. Wanna come over and do mine? If the good weather holds, any chance of one more run this year?

Dylan

Ill come out and help ya out anytime!
Just lemme know, and ill take a ride out to your place!

When I get everything sealed in, before the bumper starts, Id be down to do a run!
Im finding there is a lil wheelin population in the OR where I work (mostly jeeps), and one guy whose rig is built pretty nice from the way it sounds...were planning on a Deer Valley day run if youd wanna join in!
We can show him what the LCs can do!

I just got the bondo on and sanded, so now I have to ruff up the lower line, then apply the liner and that side is as done as I want it to be!
Im not trying for perfection on this, but I wanna do it as nice as I can without getting too anal.

Chicago

Looks good...I am hoping to do mine soon. I am going cut the rockers off first and then install sliders. Then I will attack the quarters. I don't want a spring over, so I am looking for ground clearance where I can get it.
