Great looking job Keith! For a guy that professes to not having any fab skills you continue to amaze all of us at your talent and ability .

I'll bet you're from the "Little Engine That Could" generation eh?!..."I think I can...I think I can...I think I can": Must be your mantra :D.

Thanks guyz! I really appreciate the motivation!
I got called into work this AM at 9, and didnt get home till 230, so I couldnt do ANYTHING! Oh well, if Im working...Im not spending!;p

Dylan,
I kept the factory line and didnt open the wheel well up. Ive never had any rub issue there, and quite honestly...I really like the looks of that line...Its SEXY!

EspressoDan,
Thanks for the compliment on the fab skills...
I honestly feel like I dont know what the hell Im doing, and if its enough to fool you guyz and look decent...Im happy!

Jack,
The rear bumper I have in mind is gonna be pretty disappointing I think...
Im planning on keeping it very basic and simple. Im planning on 4x4, 3/16 wall square stock, chopping a couple of angles (for SOME flare) and running 2x2 under the quarters, and a basic swing out to hold the spare and a 2nd for gas. Also, some tow points out of 1/2 in plate that will tie the whole shebang into the frame.

All in all, for a first attempt...Im pretty pleased with the result so far!

K

Looking great Keith.

Are you going to use some Seam Sealer on the inside? It's the factory type stuff that works really well. You can get it at any auto body supply store.

Can't wait to see the bumper.

Jack

Yeah, Im DEFINATELY gonna seal the heck out of the inside!
Itd be a shame to do this, and then have to go back a few years later and do it again.

K

So I got the PS rear quarter welding finshed!
It was a real PITA trying to make and weld the under plate to fill the hole of the chop, but...it came out OKAY!
Thankfully Im rhino lining it!

Well...look at it this way: IF you would have thought about it you might not have even done it :D. And look how much you learned ;).

Nice job by the way...I HATE body work.

Im beginning to hate body work too...
I dont have the patience required for it, im finding.
Ive learned a great deal indeed, which is worth the hassle IMO, and God knows that it wont be the last of it, Im sure.

Thanks for following!

Not even close to the end. You should have never let your skills be know to a guy with a 40 that lives as close to you as I do. :grinpimp:

Looks good.
I'll be attempting the same on my 55 this year.
What do you seal the inside with?
Do you provide for drainage, or is the sealant good enough?

Thanks

You should do your best to get it sealed with metal as much as possible, but after that, just use what the factories use; Seam Sealer, you can get it at any real auto body paint/body supply store.

Can you recommend a "real" paint and body store?
I just got the lil bit of bondo work MOSTLY done...Looks much better as I was able to even out SOME of the waviness and low spots.
Next on the agenda is to scuff up the lower line, clean it, then slap on the liner and hit the other side!:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:
Piece of CAKE!

I do wanna really seal the hell out of the inside, so Id like to get a place that I can pick that stuff up at!

Bring the old girl over, and well have a sheet metal cutting party!
You know Im always available to help!
Ive devised a decent way to transfer patterns over that eliminates A LOT of the patch matching work!
Im really diggin the 18g material!

The place I am most familiar with (sorry can't remember their name) but they are on the south side of Glendale right at East McCarran across from the JC Penny outlet. It's like a auto body mecca inside. They used to mix factory paint colors and put them in regular aerosol cans, not sure if they still do. Me and my buddies have had real good luck with those guys, there even used to be a guy that could/would do flames. :bounce: (flames add like 5 horsepower).

He should do flames, oh yeah flames and wood.

Does the store you mention also sell auto parts? I've been in there a couple of times, they have a ton of stuff for body work.

There is another auto paint store on Longly just north or Mira Loma on the west side of the street. I think all they sell is paint and auto body stuff.

Yep, they used to be a Carquest shop, now I think they are AC Delco or something like that.

We agree flames and wood would be sexy (Darcie's word). Oh yeah and a dorkle.:hillbilly:

Jack

Ive been to the place on Glendale...
They do have a TON-O-STUFF there.
I was wondering if there were others that I didnt know of, and possibly a bit closer, but if theyre recommended...
They do still aresolize factory colors, but IIRC its MONEY! I still may have to do that to match the blue.

Flames on a crusier!? Sort of an oxymoron isnt it?
That would imply SPEED, which it has NONE OF.
At least till the V8 goes in.:D

mabey!
