Went down to the paint and body shop on Glendale...
Picked up the "hippo Liner" kit for 80 bucks and a pint of the sealant...
They have SOOOOO much stuff there. holy crap!

Any of you guyz tried that rust neutralizer stuff? You spray/ paint it on and it causes a chemical reaction with the rust and turns it into a paintable primer?
Saw some of that in there and I see it as a way to save A LOT of grinding work on the rear frame that is now exposed!
Anyone used that?

Do a search in the 40's forum. If it has to do with rust it has been beaten to death there. At a guess I would say the 25% of all threads in the 40's forum deal with rust in one way or another. :lol:f

Came out SOOOOO bad ass! Im just tickled about it!
I couldnt get any pics, cuz I had that crap ALL OVER my hands, and I didnt want it getting all over the camera...
Anyone know how to get this stuff OFF?
I thought about using latex gloves, but thery in the back of the rig, and I was so excited to get started that....well....I didnt feel like digging them out!
Used gas, scrubber and have washed numerous times, and there is no sign that its gonna be coming off anytime soon! Ill be using gloves next time!:o

That stuff is a miracle for shotty body work!

I cant wait to post the pics!

Now all that is left is to seal the inside, and clean and paint the frame!
On to the next side though before that!

Just me, but I think the time of the woodgrain is now over. It was OK without the liner, and it might still be OK if the door was not missing a whole panel. Now it just looks kind of ghetto.

X2. I liked the look as much as anyone, but after seeing it with the Black liner, it's got to go.

THANK YOU!
I appreciate the input on that...I was feeling the same way about it, but I wasnt sure if it was the decal missing from the door or not!
Im not too attached to it by any means, but I was on the fence about it.

Desertlake...
Im gonna be building a bumper with wrap around protection, so itll be protected some.
Not sure how Im going to work it as of yet, but there will be something there!

Thanks for the input gents!

Where the hell did you come from?
I thought you forgot about us over here!:D

You know itll NEVER be over!
That is 90% of the fun.
I still cant believe that the door I got from you matched so perfectly!
The paneling I cut didnt work out so well though...The rust proved to be too much, so I had to make some new stuff.
Oh well, I tried.

BTW, did you decide on what you were gonna do with that hatch and tail gate?
You were on the fence about it?

K

First off , Great work man!

The WG? It seams like you would want to cover the door and the front fender area with WG.
If you installed those missing panels you might want to outline the perimeter of the WG with black goop.
Otherwise gotsta tear it off. :frown:

Thanks for the props Ken!
Im not gonna do any additional 'gooping" around the WG. Its not THAT important to me!

BTW, can you hook me up with some pics of your rear bumper?
I might be stealing your idea of using 4x4 sq stock, but I wanna refresh my memory of how yours runs!
Id really appreciate it!

BTW, I found out via Les Schwab that one of my tires is defective and cannot be balanced (like 2-3oz out of balance)...I called 4WP and theyre shipping me a new one!
I was VERY happy about that! Hopefully that will remedy the vibe I have between 40 and 45!

Keith, you are doing such a damm good job on this project. If I was you I would faux the wood grain in liner, but do it in oak not maple.;)
Great minds think alike
