Coming home from camping I filled the tank on the way back. I've been noticing a lot of fuel vapors and smell Everytime I stop coming from around the filler

About 100 miles after filling up, I stopped in a parking lot and shut it off for 10 min. Went back outside and the truck turns over, stumbles at about 400rpm for a second then dies. Not getting any CE codes.

Any ideas?

Hmmm,

Where are you?

Sounds like maybe fuel isn't getting to the engine.

So it just started. I'm still getting a lot of vapors from the filler cap though. I probably need a new cap, but you'd think the CE light would go off. This was very strange.

So. I had this problem a while back, especially the vapor odor.
Is was The vapor canister on the drivers side of the engine compartment. And I had similar symptoms.
There is a chevy ( i think chevy) evaporator mod somewhere on mud. I did it and it's worked great ever since. I will try and find it. Good luck

Seems to be a pretty common issue with the '06 and '07 in the heat at altitude. In most cases (based on other's experiences), letting the car and fuel cool down gets it running smoothly again.

Not sure if the underlying issue is fuel pump, octane, ethanol, or EVAP related. One would think the EVAP system would vent the vapor prior to pressure building so significantly.

IIRC it's the charcoal canister or something like that, def. altitude related. Careful undoing the gas cap if you vent it.

CE light trigger requires a specific sequence of events and repeated, one time won't necessarily trigger it unless it's something that's harming the engine and you're still driving it (coil pack out, etc.)

Thanks for the responses guys. Luckily the truck is home now so I get to chase this one down. You guys gave me some good material to catch up on.

Don't leave us hanging, when you figure it out please let us know.

Perhaps you top off the gas tank a bit to much. 03-07 have charcoal canister in rear near gas tank. OM states; stop filling tank at first auto shut off of gas pump. Topping any more floods charcoal canister.
