Most places have to order them but they can be there next day by noon. Got stranded before with a dead alternator and that was the only fix was to wait.

Call Colorado Toyota Specialists in Conifer and see if they have any good ones sitting on a shelf? (303) 838-4772

Or call Generator Exchange 303-433-1042 maybe they could rebuild cheaper/faster than a new one. They close at 5. I posted on Rising Sun for you.

Already called every chain parts shop. Nobody with parts in stock.
My lights flashed earlier and saw a spike in volts so I knew the voltage regulator was heading south. The field test showed that when I pulled in to an O’Reilly s. Just to be sure I pulled the alternator and took it in for a bench test. It said it failed, but the guy helping me was, honestly, clueless. It took him a very long time to connect it, and he really looked lost. I’m hoping that the VR has just failed. They will have one here in the morning.

In the future if this happens to someone else, if a replacement alternator isn't available and you're on the road...

Just buy two new batteries. A freshly charged new battery can run the engine at least 6 hours without an alternator installed. The 2nd battery is for backup if the first one peters out before you get home.

Napa in Carbondale, CO had an alternator for my 60 series in stock while I was up there last month. Their inventory is accurate. It had the wrong pulley, but that can be swapped with basic hand tools.

Bad Regulator? I thought my alt died a while back. Turned out it was the do-dad on the back of the alt- what's it called? Anyhow after ordering and returning an alt that was the wrong one I spent 4$ on the Oh yeah, The Regulator! Two screws, a little clean up, plug it in and presto. My alt was fine.
