100 Series 1.5" lift thread - UPDATE... Completed

Well it has been a while since I parted with my 96 LX-450. I loved that truck but I made it a bit too big for daily use. Do-over time!

I just bought a 2006 LC w/57K. Found it in Tulsa, Toyota Certified, original owner, completely stock, no AHC, simply perfect.

To keep from wasting time or money, I would like to know if any of the members have a 100 with (preferably BFG AT) 275/70R18's, and a Slee/OME 2.5" lift. Most of the Cruisers I see are running on 16" wheels, so I am having a hard time visualizing how the final product will look.

I just bought a 2.5" kit (OME T/B, NitroChargers & Diff drop) from Slee this week while I was in Denver. I think it is what I want, but better to do a little homework than to be disappointed by the results.

I looked at the picture thread until my eyes started to bleed and still didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Any help would be appreciated.

My truck is an '06, and figures, I also bought it in Tulsa (Jim Norton Toyota?).

I don't have BFG, but my Nitto Terra G's are 275/70/18s. 3000 miles in and love them. They perform great on and off road.

My lift is an AHC lift, approx 1.5" over stock height. Not quite what you are looking for, but close.

HA! Yeah, how funny. Jim Norton it was. Thanks a lot for posting. I am just concerned that there will be too much wheel well with 275/70r18's and 2.5" in the rear. Nitto's were my other choice.

Neoworm, your BFG's look good. I like the look of that wheel size with the 866's.

I have an 03 with an aftermarket trailer platform hitch & a Slee 2.5" lift. I would not go any bigger than 275/70R18 if you have this set up and want to carry a full size spare.

If you have the stock tow hitch, you may be able to get away with it, but mine pushed the sapre tire back & is less than 1" away from rubbing.

I have 275/65R18's on mine (x5). There is no way I could fit a 285 (r18) spare on mine, plus my tires are narrower & the spare doesn't stick down as far in the back, which is a big plus to me.

I don't know what rear springs you went with, but I have the 860's on mine & are, in my opinion, are almost too high if you don't have a rear tire carrier.

I wouldn't want my torsion bars cranked up any further & mine still has just over 1" of rake. In this pic, it looks level, but I am on a slight incline. It's not level at all, but not enough for me to change springs or crank up my TB's any further.

If you have no hitch, or a factory one, you can (as other pics can attest to) easily fit 285r18s on it. It will rob some power, but they look better with a 2.5" lift than mine do. I decided on my size because I like as much up travel as I do down travel, I like a full size spare & this size (along with the 275/70's) were almost $100 cheaper, per tire, than the 285's.
YMMV

All is set...

Thanks for the feedback! It confirmed what I thought to be true. I do not want 2.5" of lift unless I am running larger than 33" tires.

I contacted Slee yesterday and had them send me a set of 865 springs (1.5") for the rear. I am going to return the 860's as I agree that-that may be more lift than I am looking for.

This cruiser should be a balanced rig. Biggest tires that are reasonable and enough lift to level it out and look a bit over stock.

Next week, Eric Murphy from Camelback Toyota is going to do the full makeover. Tires, t/b's, springs, diff drop, -running boards, etc... Should be an awesome single day transformation.

I will post before and after picts early next week.

Exactly...

4Peanut, that is EXACTLY the photo that I was looking for. Thanks for coming in later rather than not at all.

I agree that-that is the best tire/lift compromise and again validates what I believed to be true.

Thanks again for posting. Should be like Christmas next week. I promise to send lots of good photos.

@4Peanut: Does the 275/70R18 BFG AT KO fit in the spare tire space under the truck?

This has the OME lift 2-2.5"
