There is a company local to me who makes leaf springs and re-arches old springs.

I’m considering having them re-arch my OEM springs to level it and add a couple inches. Are the OEM springs same/better/worse than OME?

My yellow ‘76 only has slightly longer shackles.
The second pic is the stance I’m looking for.

Looks like 33x10.5"x15" tires on 2.5" lift. Read up on Rancho add a leaf modification as well. This may be a short term cheap fix. Long term, spend the $ for lift and tires you want. Highly recommend Bilstein shocks as well.

Go with the OMEs. Re-arching the stock springs to add 'a couple inches' will shorten the eye-to-eye distance, and could leave you with funky shackle angles.

Most properly designed new springs with lift take this into account.

One and done! Just my two cents.

OME springs with bilstein shocks is the preferred 2.5" lift?

That same company is local to me and I had them work on my springs, it took them 4 tries to get them mostly right. As others have said you'll need a longer main leaf if you add more arch to your pack.

If you haven’t talked to Kurt @cruiseroutfit or one of the boys at Cruiser outfitters about his OME lift kits it might be worth a call. Cruiser Outfitters

My suppliers always told me you can not re-heat treat spring steel that has been heat treated at one point- - -sooooo the way they make the re-heat treated spring somewhat live is to install a thick add-a-leaf- - -which in turn will knock the dentures right out of your head!!!!!!!

Don't ever put add a leaves on stock FJ40 springs. Ride is horribly rough, made this mistake back in the 90s. Save up for a real suspension and do it right.
