So last week I drove the mighty 80 down to Eureka Springs, Arkansas (About 2 Hours) had zero issues. When I was leaving I noticed when letting off the gas there's noise which sounds like from underneath towards the rear. Now the noise is hard to explain. Its kind of a chirp/rattle. My first thoughts were u-joints. The noise doesn't happen when I'm on the gas, Only when I let off. So under load there is zero noise. It drives normal. Now what I find odd is that the noise is present when I drive it in the mornings seems to start doing it when the truck as been driving around. I'm going to try to get it on the lift today, but thoughts would be appreciated. I checked under the truck and tried to see if the u-joints had any play all seem solid, but we all know that doesn't mean much.

Thanks for your time! If you have questions please ask, and I will do my best to answer them with the information that I have

Appreciate you guys!

Check your exhaust hanger isolation pads.

when the slip yoke of the driveshaft starts to wear out, the annoying rattle at slack throttle and deceleration is the primary symptom. Pump your slip joint full of grease (don't overfill!!) and the noise may temporarily subside. If that's the case, you've got your culprit. Unfortunately the only solution is a new driveshaft. This tends to happen in cruisers that have achieved high mileage.
