Has anyone noticed a rattling noise at idle when truck is in drive with foot on brake? Rattling stops when transmission is put into park, only on when brake is on and car is in drive sitting at a light or stop.

I had a similar situation when my serpentine belt tensioner pulley bearing was going out. You could confirm by removing the belt and turning the pulley by hand. Check the idler pulley, too.

Plastic engine cover rattling?

I had the same exact issue until I removed the engine cover. Quick, cheap, easy fix. Engine isn't as pretty when the hood is open now though.

Get rid of the engine cover and the associated rattle. Not sure why our engines HAVE a cover in the first place.

1st thing I removed is that useless cover. It is there to give shelter to rodents!

Heat shields, yes!
Also check splash shield under motor and transmission on the underside. Sometimes the bolts loosen up or out.

A big rubber mallet is your friend during the hunt for rattles. Start thumping on things, you’ll be surprised what you find.

BTW, you’ll likely hear some clamoring from the rear e-brake drums, not a lot you can do about those noises since things in there are inherently a little loose.
