So finally time to get a FSM for my 2000. Was looking around on ebay and there seems to be a two book version for around 120-150 bones.... is this the one I want to get or should I be looking somewhere else? Also, can some one post up where/how I adjust the headlights? Mine need some serious adjustment. the drivers side looks like the light is being spread all over the place.... thanks!

Dang- We need to sticky this thread! It was on page 7!!

So, is there a max speed for 4L? I engaged mine today and it seemed to be whining pretty good at 3K RPM. Didn't feel like it was going to shift out of there.

4Lo? yeah it maxes out at the redline in 4th gear. I'd go see what it is but it'd be different then yours since we have different tire size.

Mine won't engage overdrive in 4LO. Mine just stays in third gear, and tops out at about 40 mph. I did the pin7 mod the other day and had a bit of fun chirping both second AND third gears going down my street. You can really feel your transmission surge in 4LO...

I don't think I got into 4th gear as I was only going about 30mph at 3K rpm. Are the shift levels higher than 4H?

Oh I thought the 5spds wouldve gotten into 4th. I'll test top speed of mine when I go somewhere later.

Yes, shift points higher in LO.

I just checked it again and it shifts FAST! I didn't realize it got to 4th that quick. Learned something new about my cruiser:)

Now, I know it's probably not recommended, but is it OK to drive on dry pavement around turns in LO? Center diff not locked. I'm going to try this when I tow my boat out of the hole (lake is at the bottom of a twisty road that is rather steep in some places) next time.

I think the center diff lock automatically comes on when shifted into low. At least with mine.

Pin 7 Mod
^Do it now and thank me later.

that was a hold over from the 80s, they got rid of it by my year

More reason for me to be jealous of you 2000's and up. ATRAC, no locking in 4LO, 5 speed (for some at least) :crybaby:

anyone have the classic style(PN ending in 85) safari snorkel laying around? I'm looking for the outer diameter of the outlet tube that is inside the fender. I dont want to pull my fender liner and break all the clips.

i know r3rrurnn333rurn3rn3r you have one sitting around, its like mine right?

Jack Stands

Buying new stands.

When utilizing the rear most point of the frame for jack stands- How tall do they need to be to get the axle to drop all the way and pull the coils?

Last time I did this I used my current ones, 17 in high, and placed them in front of the rear wheel and didn't quite have enough to drop the axle. I had to muscle the coils back in and I didn't like doing that on stands.

I use 12T jack stands  though I didn't measure them for height. I found that if you don't disconnect the lateral rod, you still have to have someone stand on the hub to push the axle down just a bit to get the spings out.
