LC100 lift tip

is this where we post Cliff Claven type little known facts?

well, my LC100 rides about 5mm higher when i'm not in it.
yes it's true. :flipoff2:

and for Bull Cruiser

checkout these dash pod things

there's a post about pillar gauge pods here at LCOOL http://www.lcool.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7469&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 and the link above is in there. FYI NO drilling required. Apparently you run the wires up from whereever thru the a-pillar and there's a plastic cover that you sit between the windscreen and the dash, and you run the wires underneath that, so no drilling required supposedly. Noice!

ya I remember seeing those a while ago. I considered that option when doing my radio install but didnt want to get crazy. Now I do. I cant begin to imagine the shipping costs though. Theres a shop down the street from me that could make me a custom one to my specs for probably less then it would to get that thing

yeah it is a bit pricey. "From $285 (Oz)" and yes plus shipping...fek my GME 3440 UHF radio was only $350 and i mounted it under the dash as the mic has the all the controls in it. Had it nearly 3 years and still no issues! Except for the idiots online on it of course!

Rob, get that install done yet? *bump*

Nope, Christmas activities with the family put it on hold. Did get a roof rack installed though (factory). Headed to the Grand Canyon Mon-Wed, so the stereo/backup cam/XM/DVD screen install I'm plannin on doing Friday/Saturday.

Has anyone removed the "pan" behind the brake rotor? I am constantly getting small rocks and dirt wedged inbetween the rotor and brake "pan".

I have had one of those dashpods since 2003, with a HF radio head with speaker, UHF radio with speaker, and battery condition gauge installed, plus four constantly on power outlets, added after initial installation. (Two cigarette, two powerlet.)

The pod itself doesn't weigh much, as it is made of a light wood frame, with colour matched vinyl on top. They did a good job on the colour match once I found out the colour numbers. They prefer you to send the radio gear to them for fitment during manufacture, but you can just tell them what gear you are putting in instead and they will manufacture to fit.

In short, I don't think shipping to the USA would cost that much, since it is light, and the unit has served me very well for six and a half years.

You can see it in this picture. The added power outlets are on the left side.

I have another question, is there some type on control that goes in the square cubby above the sliding drink holders on the center console for the 2nd row users?.... possibly radio controls or another rear AC switch?
I think it is just an access panel for wiring. IN the LX470, wiring for the console cooler and CD player.

do you ever have to re crank torsion bars ?:wrench:
Good question. No good answer. If they sag, and you want to stiffen them up again, yes. No idea how often or much they sag. I just wound mine up from near the minimum setting to near the maximum, but that is another story, related to fixing the AHC. Maybe I'll document that later.

We have a lot of deer/black bear vs. vehicle accidents around here. I am curious what the ARB (or similar) front bumper does in an animal collision. Anyone got any stories or pics??

they were designed for kangaroos.

There are several stories of deer being decimated by the ARB, with little to no effect to the bumper. Might search the 80 series section.

theres a good one of a FJC hitting a deer a highway speeds and all that was left as a sign they hit it was a little fur/blood.

And cattle. We have those over here as well. :) There is a reason they are called Bullbars.

A Big Red or Grey kangaroo is a pretty large and solid animal. Easily a match for a large deer, but not as heavy as a Moose or large Bear. Black bears are smaller though aren't they, as are most deer invloved in animal strikes?

I've seen up to 10 deer on the side of the highway at a time. I don't know what was going on that day but I can assure you that there were definitely plenty of damaged cars driving around.

I am pretty sure the record was broken this year up in the north Georgia mountains, but in 2007 the black bear state record was 574 lbs... That's a big a** bear.

RoderickGI - And as a fellow Melbournian, be careful driving between Marysville and Lake Mountain (although Black Saturday bushfires have probably eliminated this now) but b4 i had all the good bits in Spring 2005 (no bull bar) added to my 'cruiser i found that my ABS works very well thank you very much when a big male deer (stag?) decided to run out from the bush in front of me before my deceleration scared him back into the bush.
His antlers/horns were taller than the LC100 and the biggest thing i've ever seen almost run in front of anything here. It was huge. His back (height wise) was half way up the door glass height. Scared the sh!t out of me!

Blend doors

After I had the ARB locker installed I noticed that the heat is hard to control. Even with AC compressor on and temp. in the 70s on thermostat it is hot as hell. I was talking to regular mechanic who did not install the locker and he said they might have messed up a blend door. Anybody have any experience or knowledge about blend doors.
