Long story short I sold a mint OEM radio delete plate a while ago and now the person is saying it does not fit.
I used this in my 1980FJ40 without issue and wondered what other years it should fit.
It seems like it would fit almost all FJ40s.

Any insight would be helpful.

Should fit any 73 to 82 FJ40 in the US market. Before 72 there wasn't a radio slot in the dash. 83 Had the insert dash. The buyer opening may have been inlarged to fit a newer radio. This is very common with the FJ40. Only FJ40s I have that weren't cut wider still had the delete plates in them.

Sorry, edited because I just realised I was thinking of my old 1980 fj40.....

They are too small for my 82 fj40, I just used 2 sided tape.

Too small, which way? Side to side or bottom to top? Just check my 82 tub and the open has been widened to fit a modern radio. It wasn't a total hack job like some I've seen. The top and bottom corners were cut and the sides were rolled in. The bracket that the radio bolted to is still there. If it wasn't so hot I would try and work back into shape and check it.

Mine fits perfectly in my ('79 build) 1980:

Thanks

Thanks for the info.
I sold one on Ebay 5 months ago and now the guys says it does not fit and wants a refund.
I pulled it from my 1980FJ40 and also test fit it into a 77FJ40.

I stand corrected, after seeing 1911's picture I measured mine and the opening is 7in. by 2/16 but after carefully observing I guess mine was cut but very well done. Guess I will finally quit looking for a factory radio to fit my opening.
