So this all got started when an old race truck motor that graced an early toyota pick up named Mudzilla came up for sale... the motor is a 13.5:1 compression small block chevy motor sporting built double hump fuelie heads and a hot cam... not bad... estimated between 550 and 600 horsepower on Trick Race Gas... that being said, it was time to ditch the 1FZFE attempt and put in something within my mechanical ability =) Here are some pictures to follow... its still in progress and should be done near the end of the month

a few more pictures... on a side note, I pulled 3 leaves out of front spring packs and used a 1/2" plate for the perch and I measured around 4 inches of lift with the spring flop... no cut and turn needed

The 40 has been sitting for a few years and had a few parts to reflect that... went through the front end and packed the knuckles full of grease, put in a 4.10 third member from a 74 wagon (needed a 4sp pinion flange) and freed up 3 out of 4 siezed wheel bearings... which, are still in good enough shape to use until the truck is built properly this winter...

tomorrow the tires go on, I steal the rear drum brakes off my red truck, build a rear driveline and put on an emergency brake drum from a 4sp.... I will put more pictures up, Thursday the motor is getting fired for the first time since being in the new 40... it will be getting wired for the few electrical things on it and after that I am going to have a beer... anyone have ideas for a cage? I checked in the photo album and there are some neat ones... just need something simple with a front hoop that can tie into the main hoop that I can build in a couple of days...

almost done... couple little things to wrap up and its to the races this weekend for the new cruiser

flip 'da bezel

dont get me wrong thats a nice build and its a cruiser.after 40 years of wheeling them your at your limits for axle strenght.guys here running boggers are breaking u joints and shafts in dana 60s .go have some fun and post a video.

well its fast! last race of the season is end of August... the 1FZ that came out was another idea i had for the truck but once I cut down the wiring harness it never ran again :crybaby: I flipped the bezel (thanks) and the hood unfortunately was the sacrificial piece to get cut up... but the headers fit really well without having to hack any other pieces up...

Not my type of build either but good job. Hacked up hoods can be unhacked with a lot of time and patience. Its his truck, his build. Nice job. Good to see old 40's rolling around no matter if its in mud on the street or through the trails.
