someone make a better CV Boot or something, mine are going to start leaking just because I read this thread....:crybaby:

Reboot came to $383. That was a discount price due to having wheel bearings packed at the same time. Grand total was $676.

$383 for 1 side or both pass & driver side?

I will add when i re greased mine, i didnt take them out. I pulled the boots back and sprayed degreaser and brake cleaner until no ditry fluid came out. Used compressed to get behind the cage. Also sprayed in the boots. Then repacked and booted.

In my build thread if you want to see the results.

Slight grinding noise when turning in the direction of the bad CV boot in pic - inner boot driver side, outer side of boot.

I've search the forum is there any grease recommendation besides ordering the rebuild kit and using the tube there ? My boot is not torn, looks to be leaking a little bit of grease, but possibly enough to make a noise upon turning ?

I want to find a way to get some grease in the boot until I have time for a replacement . Ideas?

I'd first look or even better take picture of the area. This is to determine how much grease is slung out around area. Second clean real good, then watch to pin point leak. Often times that clamp just needs tightening. If not much grease has be lost you'll be fine. Look at The Black Knight in my signature, I just tighten a clamp yesterday. I'll be watching closely now.

If boot has tear then reboot is a must or if too much grease has come out I'd reboot. If new grease is needed I recommended OEM boot kit, it is best practice.

Some have used off the shelve CV grease with good luck. NAPA sell a clamp that work just fine and CV grease. You can also use a needle to inject under boot at clamp, once clamp off.

From what little I see you've been weeping a small amount from under boot at clamp for a good amount of time. But I can't see much.
