My '66 FJ40 has a really old wiper switch and the really old top mounted wipers. What do all the wires on the switch do? I assume it has something to do with parking the blade. Do they all need +12? Or is it more complicated than that.

I figured it out. Although the wiring diagram shoes that the +12 coming to the switch also goes to the wiper motor. On my switch, that connection was happening at the switch. The blue/black wire should have +12 going to the motor ALL THE TIME. The two blue/white wires go to the separate motors. Basically, the blue/white gets it started and the blue/black finishes the motion even after the switch is turned off.

Sounds like you got it. The switch just feeds power to a dead spot where the wiper parks to get it started and keep running. The 25 section at the bottom of the main page has a few threads on these old wipers. While it's the 25 section enough early FJ40 guys there as well. If you have questions on stock items it's a good place to akd. If your looking for answers on mods and updated parts better here.

Is this the motor you have? The wiring is a little tricky to get the two speeds. Coolerman's build shows how to do it - even he said it was counterintuitive. I had mine flipped so I never had two speeds. Found his instructions and fixed it. They aren't that different in speed but better than just one speed.

No, mine is older than that - two separate motors.

Old dual motor wipers....are either on or off...1 speed

On my 45 truck , if I get the switch just right, I can run just the driver side.....which makes my dog upset ;)
