Can I use a RHD windshield wiper motor in my '64 LHD '40?

Although very different than your earlier year, I did some scouring of the internet for a replacement motor for my 79 FJ40 (lower mounting) and those RHD motors didn't seem interchangeable at first glance.

Lots of RHD aftermarket motors out there, and pretty inexpensive too, but almost no LHD motors, that I could find at the time.

While visually comparing my old LHD motor to the RHD motors available, which seem like mirror images, it didn't seem doable, and still have the motor fit inside the outer cover. It also seemed the mounting holes didn't line up. That's as far as I got with that path.

Instead, I opted to clean and repair my original motor. Whether or not the internal parts are interchangeable with the RHD motors for parts, I wouldn't know.

Fyi, I did find that for my 79, the aftermarket linkages and pivots available for RHD worked fine on my late model LHD FJ40.

Thanks for the link! I found expensive oem wiper motors, but somehow missed Cityracer's aftermarket wiper motor during my search. Good to know.

I installed this wiper motor in my 77. When I pulled my motor apart it was really toast inside. This motor bolted up easily and works great so far.

Yes, the two different TNK wiper motors are internally different but will wipe correctly. Just note that they will "park" on opposite sides of the windshield glass and you may need to extend the wires.
