My 77 40 has 5 inches of lift and Saginaw Steering. Currently using a dropped pitman arm. I know High Steer is usually associated with SOA but it looks as if it would work with plenty of clearance on my truck. I have been told that it will not. Any experience anyone has in this would be appreciated.

Thanks

THIS set-up should work very well for you. I installed it in a sprung under 40 series....

4x4Labs makes steering arms for spring-under configurations.

I haven't used their stuff, but others have been very happy with it.

The problem with using most high-steer arms on a spring under configuration, is the arms have an upwards bend/machined shape. In a spring-over application, this raises the tie-rod over the spring pack. In a spring under configuration, your tie-rod will likely contact the frame before the axle touches the bump-stop. Once you install taller bumpstops for a little more 'safety margin', you may not have enough up-travel.

cheers,
Steve
