Would certainly give you a project for the new shop. Not like it has to be road legal the minute it gets off the boat is it?
I really don't know how to approach it yet... Not sure how it is with registration and if there's a time limit between arrival and registration... Also not sure how it is with lifted vehicles and such...

Yeah I guess finding someone who's been involved in it might be a good start. Or import it in pieces

In the meantime tho, when do you get to go get your truck?

Need to pay for it today / tomorrow then I have 14 days to pick it up...

No bailing twine or duct tape... you’ll need to fix that ASAP

Hell, if he has trouble picking it up in 14 days, I'll arrange to pick it up... and store it here in Canada for safe keeping. I'm sure we all could take good care of it for him.

Paper works all gone through and I now have a new truck sitting at the house.

Drives good, has a little shake around 100 that I will need to look into. Also has 2 owners and every single receipt from new until now and every service done at the correct times. Older guy owned it had another cruiser around too

Well, that’s a first. Never seen a black Troopy before.

Got annoyed with finding wiper blades for the truck so finally took a little project.

Harvested a couple of wiper arms with some bolt cutters, will see how it goes with these and if it's good will do the same on Andy.

Now I can use the cheap and plentiful Volvo wipers

So after 3 yrs have you done anything to the Troopy? Or just driving it? Fitted it out for camping?
On a side note: Is it true that Volvo is not making diesels any longer for passenger cars? I presume still
making transport sized diesels?

I only have the pickup, and 40, not a troopy (yet).

More or less done nothing, just oil changes and changed the oil in the trans and transfer case, it's my daily driver at the moment.

Have a pile of spare parts just need to find time to tackle it.

Planning to rebuild knuckles, new tie rod ends and a wheel bearings.

Need to see about doing some painting also, starting with a few rust spots.

It's funny how parts get bought, then sit. I'm almost done working thru my pile.

Well finally stated working on the truck some, decided to do a knuckle rebuild with wheel bearings, brake disks, and all new new tie rod ends... Have been having a bit of a wobble when driving which is annoying.

Honestly inside the knuckles looks pretty decent, probably wasn't really needed but now that I've started it's getting all the new parts...

Bit of an interesting wear pattern... Can't remember if the last rebuild had a similar pattern but I guess that's pretty normal since that's the part that would be exposed to the element while turning.

also pretty sure I spotted the steering wobble problem while working... can anyone spot it?

My best guess would be worn TREs.

Not much else left in frame. The spring bushing look ok. Sway bar isn’t needed so it probably won’t cause a wobble. Not much else to look at. Loose u-bolts or spring plates… but they appear ok in the pictures.

Is there a gap here or is it just a shadow?

All the empty beer cans just out of frame? :flipoff2:
Heh, it's actually my first (and hopefully last) sober knuckle job, got a concussion last week and I'm not allowed to drink until I've recovered... 🙄

I had assumed the same and ordered tre kit... I will still swap them since I've got all the parts and feel they've got a tiny bit of movement.

But om pretty sure these clamps should be on the split part of the tie rod so the ends can't move / change alignment...

I’d seen that clamp there, but it hadn’t occurred to me that someone had left it like that. Someone must have had a few too many wobbly pops while working on it. If you’re going to partake… best to give it all a good once over the next day.

WTF… who’d leave it like that? I at least have the clamp over the split before going for a test drive… usually tightened up also. Why tempt fate.

Always good to realize your truck was previously worked on by a moron. Gives you so so much confidence in the other work they may have done. 😒

My personal favourite on my truck was the heavy alternator wire where the splice was both ends tied to a washer.

Tied. As in half granny knots, then meticulously shrink-wrapped to make it look all professional like.

As for the wobble, with my new skinny tires, I really notice the light steering and lack of positive caster. I don't know why they ever thought the factory .5 degrees was enough. Takes so little to end up negative.

I have July off, so adding shims is on my list as well as the tcase stuff.

(Between 5000 house jobs :bang: )
