Have to give credit to my man Cole Seitz for the title. I smashed my skid plate / pan (whatever you want to call it) on the Rubicon during last years Rubithon. So, in light of the upcoming 2025 Rubithon I figured I should make some adjustments to enjoy the trip a bit more. Since I folded my skid plate like a soda can, I felt the need to make something stronger. At least try. Have a watch and please like, share and subscribe, you all that stuff.

Just watched the video. As always love the show. Now foreshadow some more episodes 😮

1/4 plate is like 60#. I'd do a front and rear short bevel piece 1" as a stiffener and so it can better skate on rocks and stuff than a square edge. Maybe some drain holes. A couple of locator dowels would be nice. 6 Stainless steel allen head bolts/washers into drill&tapped holes - maybe into nut zerks.

Mine is 1/4" and probably weighs 100#, but it's bigger. It started out as cardboard too and fits up close to the drivetrain. I have been unable to bend it as yet

I just took his dimensions of the 5 pieces with 1/4" thickness and "steel density" get the first approximation for the weight. No weld, stiffeners, bolts... or cutouts. Even at 100# it would be man handleable.

+1 for bends as stiffeners. The aviation folks do cutouts that way - lightens and strengths at the same time.

Some folks could ruin an anvil with a rubber mallet.

The reaction in the video was priceless... "Are you Sh$tting... Why did you get such expensive cardboard?"

That made my night last night.
What killed me was she thought for a second I actually bought it 😂
