Welcome to the fabulous world of old vehicles. The nice part is at least you CAN work on it yourself. Think how bad it would suck of you also just paid someone $1,000 to fix your engine. I tell myself that every time I pull my transmission.
Isn't that the truth, if you can't fix it yourself you shouldn't be playing with it!

With all those new parts why wouldn't you just find a replacement engine that matches what you have?

I could put a small block in it for the price of a short block f135. As much as I liked the 6 banger it won't even come close to the v8 wheelin.

But you can pick up a running F for 100 bucks and be driving in a day or two...

If I find a f135 running for a hundred bucks I would go that way for sure.

Put a new cam in it and it may be an EZ fix as long as there is no major damage to the bottom end.

Judging by what I can see thru the hole in the oil pan the chunk of cam and lifters have beat up the connecting rods.

Reminds me of a scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie.......Per the Black Knight; "Oh, it's just a flesh wound!"

Who can sell an F engine for $100?
I took a running 2f shortblock, 2 4speeds and a t-case to the JY a few weeks ago, 'cause they were in the way. :bang:

I'm keeping 4 other 4speeds, 2-3 rebuildable 2Fs, 1 H55, 4-5 t-cases...
