The repair has a total of 12 machine screws into the thicker sections of the casting. 2) 1/4-20, 6)5/16-18, and 4)3/8-16. I think it is strong, but I wasnt happy with the visual, so after work I got out the welder and started filling the gaps. Then off to napa for a chinese die grinder to clean it up... ok , there is a VERY small amount of bondo in a couple of low spots, but only a tiny bit. Im going back out now to mount it in the frame.

Standard wire or??? I'm going to do my cracked case as well , cause that turned out much better than I expected!

 Awesome work! If that works out there will be many more cases available for the rest of us wanting them!

Now go hook it to something solid and see if you can shear a pin before the weld breaks! ;)

Yes, standard wire. And thanks for your help Pinhead, although the welding pictures didnt come through.( I dont get about 10% of photos posted) If I had it to do over again, I'd cut the rear 'leg' off close to the gearcase and run the machine screws into the flat area created. Then I'd fabricate a new leg from steel to bridge the gap, as the cut off 'H' section didn't give the best attachment area, and we know these legs are a weak point anyways.... At first I thought square tubing would be good, then i thought about that nice little 'H' section forged front axle on the simplicity garden tractor that I gave away a year ago. I got up this morning and pulled the worm ( no, not that one) and cleaned out the chips, oh and the end of the 3/16 bit that snapped off and fell inside...... Here's the finished project complete with 'camoflauge' paint.
