Similar experience here with the Autozone/Cardone booster. Only purchased it because of the "limited liftetime warranty." Given a 2nd chance, I'd have ponied up and purchased OE or Seiken.

Well, semi happy ending, got a full refund from Autozone.

Swapping motors in a couple months, will try to find a good place to get the donor booster rebuilt.

I had a Pep Boys manager tell me 'I wouldn't buy anything A-1 Cardone sells' - and I agree wholeheartedly. My reman PS pump from them lasted 6 months and had no boost after that. I categorically avoid anything they 'reman'.

I had the exact same problem. Bought a replacement brake booster for a 1996 fj80 and it had two extra check valves. I installed mine 180 opposite of what you did and was able to get the bracket back on no problem. I guess they expect us to just cap off the extra check valves?

I just picked up a OEM Seiken Brake Booster and OEM Gasket from Cruiseryard. Had it in a couple days. I was prepared for it to take a few hours to install it. Got it done in 2. It was a bit more expensive than what you paid. But only putting it in once is worth something.
Think it was $299.00

Edit $295 shipped

I have one waiting to install from city racer. It is not oem or I should say it looks slightly different than the one in my truck. But looks own quality unlike what is pictures above. His boosters for a 40 get great reviews in the 40 forum.

Also recently put in a reman from VatoZone. My braking is much easier than before, I guess I just didn’t realize I had an issue until it became acute.

Hopefully I got a decent one the first time, but the reviews on here don’t seem good.
