Gary, where did those seats come out of? Nice touch using the 80 console.

Seats are 2005 BMW 5 series and are a real pain to install. Thought they would be pretty easy, but they need to be mounted very low on the floor because of the height. I had to clearance both sides of the tranny hump and cut out and replace a seat brace. Major pain.

Got the tank installed as well as started the bumper brackets and winch cradle. The idea is to use the stock bumpers front and rear and to recess the winch as far into the front bumper as possible. The fuel tank came from a guy that has done Marine tanks for me before and did the 45 tank as well. He is not cheap, but this tank is an exact fit for this conversion, holds 37 gallons and does not drop below the body line.

More of this weeks progress. Front winch cradle is 1/4" plate broken around the outside of the frame with a front gusset and rear gusset and 6 bolts per side mounting it. It will have 2 more plates that will bolt to the winch cradle to mount the front bumper.

Very pretty Gary, as is all I have ever seen you produce. I can hardly wait to see it in person.

Its higher than the lowest point on a stock 62 tank, so for now no skid plate. If I plan to do some desert racing or serious rock crawling, I may change my mind on that though. This truck most likely will be a mall cruiser/light trail duty truck anyway.

Heh, heh...

Finished the power steering hoses and did some winch stuff. The PS was converted to AN style fittings instead of welding on the stock fittings. Made all the PS lines today and got the reservoir bottle plumbing done as well. Had to disassemble the Slee/TJM winch setup to be able to tuck it under the body as much as possible. Mounted the disconnect switch and the exterior winch control plug on the frame/body.

Hey, you are getting slow in your old age! Look at the start date for the thread 12/21/11. Coming up to a year. I hope you drive it out the shop tomorrow.

Before the world comes to an end in fire and brimstone :D

Exhaust pipe showed up today. 3" polished, mandrel bent, 16ga stainless steel, and will be tig welded. Muffler will be a 70 series Flowmaster jet hot coated.

Amazing packing job there lol

Looks good Gary. Very clean and detailed.

That address for the tank brought back some memories. I grow up about seven blocks from there. There use to be a skate shop right next to his location.

Curious to find out how much you dropped the engine height - and whether this created any issues potentially with ground clearance or drive shaft alignment. Was it made easier because the V8 motor you are using is not as tall as most landcruiser motors? I like that you are able to fit the body down low - other people who fit 60 or 40 bodies to an 80 chassis often make use of a body lift or slicing and dicing the floor pan, wheelwells, etc. You only did a little cutting to the front inner fenders it looks like. Very tidy!
