Santa Elena Canyon is a really cool spot where the Rio Grande cuts directly through 1,500' cliffs and there are Class IV rapids just upstream. It was great to be back here, although the sand flies are HORRIBLE this time to year.

This was our photographer, who seemed to struggle a bit.

Just finished reading the entire thread. Love the build and the amount it gets used.

Also good to see some love for the HFS lift kit, and I love the stance of yours on the 33s with the 4”. Makes me look forward to my same setup.

Keep it up! Enjoy the Colorado weather and continue posting all the great pictures.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Many more adventures to come, I hope.

By the way, Mary Beth over at HFS (CCOT) is telling me that their lift kit is no longer available. That's a bummer. I think it's a great product.

These trips always give me a good reason to tighten things up when I get back home.

I swapped in a new OEM thermostat/gaskets and flushed coolant (it has been 6+ years on that). Also pulled the carb apart and cleaned up the slow jets and accelerator pump circuit, installed a new OEM air filter, oiled the parking brake, tightened belts, readjusted timing, and checked front bearings. Good as new again.

Now I just need to burn the 1/2 tank of ethanol gas from Southwest Texas so that I can get her back on the non-ethanol medicine. I hate that ethanol.

Stopped by the cabin to check on things and make sure the mountain lions didn't take it over while I was gone.

I found a like new used one a couple months ago and picked it up with no shocks, HFS 4”. I’ve got some Bilstein shocks to pair it with and 33-10.5 km3 on fresh stock wheels lined up for it.

I’m looking forward to getting it all out together. Even more so after reading this thread.

Did a little bit of exploring after lunch today with the pup. Weird weather. Sunny when I left, horizontal snow flying when on the trail, and sunny again when I got home.

Starting to see some ice melting on the ponds back here with Spring approaching. More snow coming this weekend though.

That color looks so good in the wild. A perfect bridge of all the tones.
Mine is RUSTic green with a heavy dose of patina. I've always been fond of the mustard tones and if/when I do a full paint, I am seriously considering this route.

Cool stuff,
Ian

The 40 is running better than ever since my last tuneup. When I cleaned up the carb after the Big Bend trip, I noticed a little bit of dirt in the accelerator pump port. Now she fires up with just the slightest tap on the pedal.

I've put some miles on Pikachu today. Picked up the kids at school, ran a bunch of errands with the pup, and did some stuff at the cabin. TGIF

School bus duty is the best, I try to take my 40 at least once a week; ultimate short bus! Pikachu looks great!

Found myself at the Sand Rover Rally in Santa Rosa Beach, FL last weekend. Despite it being primarily a Land Rover event, I still got to meet up with some fellow Cruiserheads.

@Catching Neutral and @thatcabledude pictured. Also met @Last Flight Out at the event. Great guys.

We took my brother’s 1964 Series Rover and had a great time down there. Got pretty spoiled with the green grass and spring weather.
