Wow, great thread! I stumbled on to it somehow and read all 721 posts, very entertaining and informative. Actually some of the best information on doing a 1F to 2F swap I've seen anywhere! Kind of a shame this isn't in the more mainstream 40 section for everyone to enjoy, you guys are funny! Good luck on getting it running, you're almost there.

There IS a reason it is here and not in the general 40 section.

And we like it that way.

Check the forecast. It'll be done soon!

Patina lives. The rain I have been needed to push Pat into his shop has come.

He got the stripped carb bolt into the manifold tapped and coiled.

Set the timing and fired it up

The motor runs and idles great.

He ran it through all the gears and the transmission is good.

Problem......there is a rod knocking.

He's loading it up to come to the Cottonland meeting and get Rob's opinion on the next steps.

After I finished crying last night Rob and Beno assured me that the likely fix can be done without pulling the motor which is a HUGE relief if that ends up being the case.

Either way it's going to be great to see the old girl tonight.

I think all that will be left after today is fixing the burned up wiring (the main, tedious reason Pat has it....he's a wiring genius)

Come check out the old girl tonight.

If it's the rod bearings then it's just a messy but easy job.

I'm sure that will be the next step. @beno said parts are $100 plus a gasket. I pray that's all it is.

No smoke. Idle and throttle are great

One thing though I forgot. The damn Air Filter housing I have is about 1/2 " off to bolt up right.

This nightmare manifold giving me one more kick in the nuts.

I need to source a round style for a later model carburetor.

Greek. Holy s***.

Seriously. It's likely going to end up in your bay for the first fire.

I think I'm going to move on to s*** I can do.

I'm getting close to the end of the above which is a good and a bad thing.

So, I enjoyed re-reading thread to find the moment I predicted Patina would end up in Rob's bay.

More on that in a few.....

So, I finished my part of Patina about the end of September.

About that time I had my friend Pat come out and quote me a concrete pad for a future shop expansion.

While there we looked at Patina. And Pat said he could knock it out for me first time it rained and took him off concrete work.

So I drug it out to his house in Brandon and left it on the trailer.

We got no rain for the next 80 days.

So, finally the rain hits and Pat jumps in Patina. He gets timing set. Carburetor set. Starter wired.

Fires it up. Runs smooth. Idles smooth. No smoke.

Lower rod knock.

Drains oil to look for metal and there is none

He brought it to the Club Meeting last night for a second opinion from Rob.

Rob and he both believe it's a bad rod bearing or cap.

Plan now is for Pat to finish up patching my wiring and that now that it will run and drive under its own power I schedule a slot at 49Cruisers for Rob to drop the oil pan and replace the rod bearings.

I did get to see the white bezel that @Texican traded me for the first time. It's a lovely addition.

So, 5 steps forward, 5 steps back.

That's the latest.

She looked damn fine though......
