My one hot lap around my driveway and those rattling windows made me insane.

Lots of polishing left to do.....

Only broke 2 of 6 bolts/screws

1/2 doors. Why have I never done this before?

The gasket was backwards. Gonna dive back in this afternoon.

Got the window in and tapped out the two screws I broke.

I ditched the stainless cup holder. Didn't look right. This does

@beno and I made a mistake that kept me from having a problem down the road.

We bent the oil pan and the crank was hitting it. That was the "rod knock"

So the dodge....the engine rebuilder used crappy Chinese parts and #1 would have failed at some point.

New OEM parts are coming and Rob is going to take a hammer to the oil pan

Blessing in disguise that bent oil pan was. I was going to say you saved some cash but with a FJ40 you never save money.

Putting these Racer65 window channel gaskets in the frame today. What a bitch.

So so so much better quality than the last set I installed that was generic felt but the flip side is it's nearly impossible to get it started.

Just sanded the edges and in about to soap it up and stuff it in

I slid in a brand new piece of OEM glass to test it. Tight. There will be no rattles in this window.

Haha. Yeah I got that warning once. I hope I remember when it goes down. It's the hinge side that takes the long screws.

I'm not sure if I will ever do the other door. Vent or channels unless the rattles are unbearable. It's a huge job on a rusty ass door.

I used windex as my choice of lube and man sure was a ton easier to install. Helped having done one to better understand it.

I used simple green because it was there. Made a big difference. No way I could do it with the frame in the truck.

Silicone spray works really well as a lubricant for that kind of stuff. It also helps to "condition" or at least preserve the rubber if you wipe it down periodically. Or so I'm told.

I had to replace mine in my 68. Not too bad.

Glycerin is a great conditioner of rubber.
