Holy s*** VT!!! is it me or you just strip down a cruiser and rebuilt back up all using just ratchet and hand tools??
I don't even see a compressor gun or any air tools.

My head bow to you brother. Damn!
 
I made pretty good progress today, at least right up until the end. I mounted the tuffy, got the the accel pedal hooked up and all the lights and badges installed, and replaced the rear windshield washer hose. I was planning to drive it to the trim shop tomorrow for the headliner install since they will be close Friday and ALL of next week. Well, I went to do a test crank tonight and I barely got a "click" out of the starter. checked all the voltages, and I've got a solid 12.65V to the primary and about the same from the switch. I have a feeling it has something to do with the rebuild. I'll have to pull it off and run it back to the shop tomorrow...:frown:

Kevin rowland and I have been discussing the A/C comp discrepancies. the 3FE comp he had didn't line up properly, but the one I pulled off a '90 62 parts rig lines up perfect. My comp is a Denso unit, but does not have "TEQ" stamped anywhere, so it could be an aftermarket replacement. Regardless, they both came off of 3FE's so they should be the same. We haven't quite figured it out yet. I am going to compare mine to some other 62's at the next cruiser meet.

Denso have factory in Indonesia that makes replacement compressors for all types of cars.
Mine was made there but was from a Toyota dealer.
I think in the future the only Japanese parts will be the ones fitted to the vehicle when new.
Denso have also built a huge plant in southern China.
 
It's running! the starter issue ended up being a ground issue. The shop painted the starter so iit wasn't grounding to the bell housing properly. After a little sanding, it cranked right up. There are a couple things that need a little work, but over all, it runs good. It's a big moral booster to have the rig running again...

Also, here are some pics of the tuffy console install. I bought the 8" console with the cup holders. so I needed to make a spacer bracket to level out the front mount.

I started with 1" square tubing and cut it down accordingly.

Congrats!! It always feels good knowing that it still runs after doing a ton of work. I've only felt that after a simple carb rebuild + header install, but I still know what you mean!

Can't wait to see the finished product. How many inches of lift would you say that is? 3"?

Thanks! Yeah, I'd say about 3", maybe 4", but I kinda expect it to settle a little more.
 
Good to see it today! No winshield and all. Did you make it home b/f the rain? Tell them about the flex on those springs :D

I don't have much of an update right now. I have been trying to clear out some parts. The old HJ body and frame are getting hauled to the steel yard today. I did get the 62 spring plates and rear shocks installed, and I started on the front shock mounts and rear sway bar brackets which I hope to weld up this weekend. The trim shop is closed this week for vacation, so I hope to get the headliner in first thing next week. Then I can finally get all the glass back in and really start driving it again.

The headliner is finally in, so I was able to get the rest of the glass in. The windshield goes in today at 6pm. Hopefully tomorrow, I'll be able to weld up my new upper front shock mounts, and rear sway bar brackets. I also cleaned up and painted my Smitty built bumper to put back on it for now. I'll get pics later today...
