Here's the problem I had with the tranny
First picture is what it's supposed to look like

Second picture is of the ginormous holes that were drilled in to the top part and into the sealing surface and left no aluminum material left on the tailhousing. The bottom holes were also retapped and crooked

bolted up the adapter......had to change the input for the dana 300 that I'm putting in to accept the 27 spline 700r4 shaft. It ended up being a lot of work for a simple job, thank goodness I have a press........and then I "realized" I hadn't placed my thrust washers correctly after taking out the idler gear and had to do it all over again

The D300 t-case has HD outputs, 4:1 gears and will be twinsticked

with the help of Poorboypulling, I started getting it in. I have already moved the motor mounts once. Measurements so far are 8.75" back from the shock tower to front edge, offset 1.25" to the driver side (wish I could get more but the center dump manifold is close), top edge flush with frame, 3-4 degrees rear tilt.

I got it used off of Pirate for $250 I think but they are close to $500. Since I had put the 4:1 kit in, all the bearings and seals were new. The only "cheaper" route is to get a 700r4 - np208 (you have to offset one hole) factory adapter and then get an input form JB conversions I believe.

Looks sweet dude. whats the wb

Sorry I forgot to answer this one.....the wheelbase right now is 101-102". I think I'm gonna push the rear axle back a little bit more since I have to cut quite a bit to fit the 40's. I'd be happy with a final 103-105". My plan is to 4 link the rear down the road but I just want to get it going and have too many projects going to start linking it but I'm leaning towards 1/4 ellipticals.

I actually HAVE the 208 adapter with the elongated hole. I would love to be able to clock the tcase up to flatten the belly, though.

I will look at JB's adapters... That part I don't have yet.

Thanks for the info.

Looking really good,I saw your project in Oct./Nov.last year when I picked up your old F eng.I just finally put that motor in my 40 yesterday,by myself! Hope to get it running soon, looks like you are close also!

I went with the d300 b/c I could clock it flat and I upgraded it to 4:1, HD outputs, twinsticked and if I want to upgrade the TC to an atlas the adapter for the 700r4 is the same.....

That aside, I think the cruiser TC is tough, the downside is that it isn't really clockable and hangs a little low for my taste, but the upside is you get to keep the parking brake and probably get to use a 1 piece driveshaft
