Thank you........while some people consider breaking down on the trail a fun and challenging experience, I really hate crawling around in the dirt in BFE hoping I can jerryrig something. So I'm trying to eliminate weak links. I know I'll break, I just hope to break less and have to carry less parts

It's been my unlucky week.....I went to bolt the T-case, 700r4, and V8 up to start mocking up the motor mounts and crossmembers and the f-ing guy I got the 700r from retapped the tailhousing threads two sizes bigger and one of them was crooked. So now I get to put the rebuilt and upgraded internals into a new case. 
That adds more money to an already expensive tranny.

Didn't get too much done this week.....the saga continues with the tranny. I have the tranny stuff getting swapped into a new case.....well sort of.....the K case I brought as the replacement was a v6 case and the internals are different....and the "built" tranny I supposedly bought does not have the "beast" sunshell or any of the other parts that were supposed to be in it other than the corvette servo and I guess some of the hard internals are damaged. 
So now I have to find another K-case and buy a sunshell, sprags etc. The $$$ is building up quick. If I could remember where the guys house that I bought the tranny from (bought it two years ago) we would have a little chat....

I was cleaning up the firewall to get it painted up and noticed a pinhole in the floorboard area

So I cut a new piece
and burned it in.......the rib that is pointed out went all the way across but I had no way to re-create it so I finished it off with a little welding magic to give the illusion that it's supposed to be that way

some people run grade 10 bolts from CAT to avoid breaking them
normally the top "u-bolt" plate looks like this in stock form. Because it is so thick it's a pain to tap a third stud so I got a custom one from Ruffstuffspecialties.com with the third hole already drilled.

So it's official.......after much debate and going back and forth between my three personalities.....I picked up a set of brand new 40" mt/r's on 32 bolt Allied beadlocks, brand new for about half the price. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go this big but I couldn't pass the deal up. And what are 1 tons for right?

Here's what the tires look like on the rig.......I have a lot of fendertrimming to do....I was thinkin of doing a set of tube flares for the rear and have no idea what I want to do on the front. The front ended up being 81.5" outside to outside with 4" backspacing and the 4.5" dana 60 cutdown. My goal was to be able to make tighter trails like Barrett Lake on the Rubicon. Overall I am happy with the stance but may add 3/4" spacers to the rear axle to get it even with the front.
