This all started with going to do a cut and turn on my 40 and some disc brakes... priced all the parts and got a little sick..

then I saw this thread...

https://forum.ih8mud.com/hardcore-corner/264922-fzj40.html

and about a week later a cheep fj80 dropped in my lap.. with a overheating problem..( turned out to be a radiator hose behind the powersteering pump..) motor was fine even drove it a while.. then took it apart..

here is the 80..

sold the parts .. and got some spares for my other two fzj80's...

combine that with my wore out 72 fj40 and we have a cheep lift that will support 35's and disc brakes and coils .. and since I needed body work on the fj40.. we will just add a little to stretch the body..

so today I started with the torch on the fj80 frame.. cut off the rear control arm hangers and then made initial cuts on the frame.

the goal is to shorten it 8" like IPOR did and then stretch the body... marked the inner and outer frame cut at different points will also reinforce where the splice it with some c reinforcment inside..

Before I get too far along I would like to thank some people for help, advice and ideas..

Battle Born Cruisers..

Chicago, for inspiration
Rustytlc, for the apliance paint trick and advice..
DiscoveredLC, for making my fab skills look amateur
krokarthecrooked.. for advice, buying the 3fe, and letting me bounce ideas off you..
and everyone else for being members of a cool club...

D'Animal... you rock.. for parts and inspiration.. and having a worse cruiser habit than I do.. owe you a rootbeer..:D:D

SFM12..Scot for helping me get the fj80 to a frame quick..

The IPOR guys for doing a unbeliveable job on their FZJ40... mine won't be that nice but I will wheel the s@#$ out of it..

ohh and last but not least the guy that sold me the fj80 not knowing what was wrong with it..( i actually felt bad after I found out it was just a hose).....

And anyone else I forgot.. We do nothing in life by ourselves...
