I used an aftermarket tach and connected it to the output of the ECU. I sold it before I completely hooked it up, so I am not 100% sure how accurate it was.
Did you try the autometer 9117 ?

no, I didn't. I tried using an inductive pickup, but the 2uz is sequencial fire, so I would have had to run 4 of them to get a proper signal for a tach.
I'll definatly keep posting updates as I progress toward the end product since afterall you guys were the ones that helped motivate me.

One of the best builds I have ever followed and you think we motivated you? Although I have to say some of the technical discussions with the specialists were rather , umm, redonkulously techmonological.

My friend, it is you who are the motivator.
I'm just about to get my turbo done - and you provided that motive force haha!

Fun isn't it. Although I am pretty power hungry, mine started to feel slow after about a week.
Question though, what have you done for cats? I ran dual aftermarket magnaflows and the ECU didn't get what it was looking for on the SUB OX sensors and after a few hours the engine light would come on saying the cats were not effecient enough, at least not for an '05 ecu.
