no, I didn't. I tried using an inductive pickup, but the 2uz is sequencial fire, so I would have had to run 4 of them to get a proper signal for a tach.

I think im going to try the autometer. I called and thier tech support says they are confident that by hooking into the positive and negative of all 8 coils, I should get an accurate signal.

I dont know if you got my PM or email's.

I dont have an extra 1uz bellhousing. Sorry.

Would you share the schematic for circuit you built for the Cruise ? I think I may have the cruise box that was in the tundra, if thats the same ?

that isn't going to work, not unless the tach adatper can multiply by 4.

One coil will only give a signal once every other RPM.

Yeah, I will post what I did later today or tomorrow for the cruise

I just want to update the thread. I took it thru emissions and it passed with flying colors. A few guys asked what was done, after it passed I showed it off a bit. They were tripping balls.

I get thumbs up from guys in FJ's and FJC's and people asking whats done to it almost every time I stop somewhere.

Before I fired it up for the first time, I was thinking to myself - gawddamn this is alot of work. No way in he11 I would do this again. Now I cant wipe the sh1t eating grin off my face :D everytime I get in and drive it. I would do this all over again in a heartbeat.

I'll definatly keep posting updates as I progress toward the end product since afterall you guys were the ones that helped motivate me.

I had a few misc questions here, but other than this theres only a little bit of wiring left to do

One of the best builds I have ever followed and you think we motivated you? Although I have to say some of the technical discussions with the specialists were rather , umm, technical!

My friend, it is you who are the motivator.

I'm just about to get my turbo done - and you provided that motive force haha!

NOW GET THAT VIDEO (WITH SOUND) POSTED.

^*Fixed it..We do pull some strange stuff out to discuss a lot lately huh?

Now, I too expect proof :flipoff2: , video up! :)
This doesn't count!

Road trip the thing and meet me in Medford in the Summer? :steer: I know where there's a dyno. :D

I find all this sad in a way, I have yet to do anything else on my swap stuff..I should've skipped the hg and grabbed the 5vz when I had the chance.

Boy do I still have alot of work to do. It wont stay in its own lane so I definatly need bushings and an alignment.

Im going to pick up a drivers side power window motor on the way home. Mine died about 3" down this morning on the freeway in the pouring rain

Some of my dash lights were burned out so I did an LED conversion. I did an LED conversion on my GS300 and it turned out awesome. I did it with regular LED's and resistors.

My tach is out so i can mess with the rheostat on the back after I get my dakota digital tach driver.

The back

So I purchased a bunch of the plug in type 194/158 and T5 LED's

Some of the old bulbs were melted to the sockets and required some finess to make sure I didnt cut the sh1t out of myself

Heres what they looked like, installed. The light transfers thru the plexiglass kinda like a fiber optic to light up the gauge semi evenly. Incandescent bulbs do a much better job that LED's.

So long story short. I had it all setup and the light was uneven.
Thats just the way the PNP LED's work for the most part. So I used rubber cement and glued tin foil on the sides of the cluster. That still didnt work, so I added 8 more of the PNP 194's soldered to wires and glued in place. I thought it was still hideous and the color was a blueish tint. Yuk....

...So I went back and used my leftover LED's and resistors from when I did my GS300 Cluster. It turned out sick !

I forgot to get a photo but I added a little solder here

DSC09420.jpg

Now I know this looks like a frightfull mess, and im sure theres a much cleaner way of doing it, but I assure you it turned out awesome.

DSC09432.jpg

Heres the foil

DSC09434.jpg

I used e-tape to cover the holes so the light doesnt peek out.

You can see the pair of wires that I added, because I added even more LED's :grinpimp:

DSC09433.jpg

I sand off the tips of the LED's so the light is diffused more, and not such a beam of light. You can see here the LED's pointed at the plexiglass diffuser

Another cluster

The results are saweeet

TA-DAH

Despite what the picture shows, the light is evenly distributed. Its the camera that makes it look like there is light flares

One more item down 999,997 more to go :D

:wrench:

The long awaited, much anticipated
VIDEO FOOTAGE IS HERE

Just want to warn you its ghey. There was too much talking, too much music etc.

I edited out about 20 minutes of unusable crap and came up with a few decent
sound bytes, and even a poser flex shot on the local rti ramp.

I just re-watched the video. Damn that audio sucks. I wish you guys could hear it with the pure audio off the recording. Sounds 10x better.

Fun isn't it. Although I am pretty power hungry, mine started to feel slow after about a week.

Question though, what have you done for cats? I ran dual aftermarket magnaflows and the ECU didn't get what it was looking for on the SUB OX sensors and after a few hours the engine light would come on saying the cats were not effecient enough, at least not for an '05 ecu.

Very fun, and yours had almost 60 hp more than mine.

Im running stock tundra cats because I already had them, and contrary to my normal MO... I wasnt too concerned with every ounce of power. LOL
