Have you considered Kydex as an alternative? It's fairly inexpensive and the stuff I've seen is very tough.

That would be the question. For a cheaper plastic alternative, it may be okay to not bend well since theyre intended to be removed. Some may prefer that to the "flappy" nature of the urethane.
Have you tried Marpac in town? Another HDC member and coworker has a company called S2Delta that designs/fabricates tactical slings. He used Marpac for the fabrication (cutting, sewing, etc.). Also, have you looked to see if anyone else have ever had the idea of removable mud flaps. Might be some intellectual property you could file for.
Kydex is pretty stiff so that may be an issue. Personally I wouldn't mind because I would remove them before hitting the trail.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into them. Ive thought about the intellectual property thing. I should probably go for it since nobody makes a removable flap like these. The only removable ones I've ever seen are the type for Jeep's that are much different.
I don't think you're off on the pricepoint at all ($180-220). Rally Armour mud flaps for my Subarus ran in the $180 range for urethane. They were super resilient. Looking forward to yours getting released so I can get some 
I'd like a set as well out of urethane. Ive got a BIOR rear bumper so if you've come up with a spacer idea, that would be a requirement for me.
FWIW re: Kydex; good material and reasonably priced compared to urethane but maybe better suited to other applications. Its best used for thermoforming to specific shapes like gun holsters for example. I can be re-heated/reworked-reshaped many times. Not sure about its durability in cold climate though-maybe not ideal for for sub freezing temps.

All I've got to say is the urethane is worth it! I'm happy with my mud flaps so far! They are amazing!
Great project @Ramathorn15 ! How much would it take off the cost if someone didn't want the removable feature and the nice storage bag etc? For those of us who dont do much rock-crawling the flexibilty of the urethane itself might be enough insurance against ripping off the bumper.

Glad you're happy with them! I personally love the look as it really is a final touch on safari style.
Unfortunately it wouldn't reduce cost at all. One of the issues with truck vs car wheel wells is that they sink inward once past the outside edge of the fender. Even just cutting your own piece of rubber and trying to mount it would be dificult to do well. For that reason, I have to develop all these stainless brackets to make up for that. Since they're already there, making them removable is then super simple and only adds a couple dollars in cost.

It's getting so close! @marcfj60 has a kit in his possession to test with the BIOR rear bumper. I'm going to need someone with a slee rear for testing too (discounted price).
I just met with a textile manufacturer this morning for bags and also learned they have a water jet that doesn't get used often. Depending on pricing, having everything jetted locally will likely speed things up.
I'm thinking about doing a 5 or so run at a huge discount in the very near future with the homemade bags I have available.
I would send a sample to Ben at Dissent as well to test with his new rear bumper!
