Hi dear cruisers,
I come from germany and travelled all the way through the USA and now I have a big problem in Monterrey / Mexiko with my Landcruiser PZJ 75.
Does anyone of u , know a mechanic here in mexiko, who does know anything about Diesel maschines ??? Or better Toyotas ???
You would really help me if !!!!
The engine lost Power since Texas (since 500 miles). I thought about bad Diesel, but thats not the problem. The max Speed i can go now is about !!! 20 Miles/hour !!! The Machine runs good, while standing, but rough while driving and doesnt have any power at all. It doesnt loose Oil, and Water But it produces !White smoke ! .
Would be great if someone could recommend me a Mechanic here in North Mexiko, Monterrey.

White smoke is an indication of water getting in the combustion chamber. Try putting your hand over the exhaust pipe. It should feel hot, but you should be able to keep it there a half a minute. If it is so hot you must pull your hand off after 5 seconds, you know there is steam vapor coming out the exhaust. Steam vapor is much hotter than just exhaust.. It may not seem like you are loosing water, but it takes just a small amount of water to make the engine run bad.
You will probably get some good advice on a diesel forumn such asDiesel Stop down near the bottom under "other Topics" "general Diesel". It's a Ford oriented forumn, but yiou will get quick advice

Have you removed the radiator cap & started it to see if there are any bubbles.
Sounds like a head gasket or cracked head

Are you sure the diesel you picked up at the last stop was good? Try the easy things first, drain your water separator, check or replace your fuel filter. Then try getting diesel fuel conditioner and moisture remover from a truck stop. If you're still not running right, drain the fuel and start with good clean diesel fuel.

You can try going to a diesel truck shop but there won't be much Toyota expertise there. You can also ask Marv at Specter Off Road (818)882-1238 if he knows of a competent Toyota diesel mechanic in the San Diego area if nothing else works. Good luck,

This might be a long shot (especially since I'm no mechanic), but couldn't white smoke also be ATF burning? I know it was a defective valve in the tranny of my family's Subaru that caused it. Is your PZJ 75 automatic? If it is, maybe worth looking at your auto tranny fluid. Good luck.

I changed the filter
There is no leak in the Fuelpipe
No bubbles in Coolant

Tomorrow, they check the Injektors
Lets see
I hope I find a way..... there is always one. Isnt it

I found the finale to Olibollys problem on Buschtaxi.I ran it through Babelfish and it seems the problem was mainly the injector pump was off its its marks by 1mm.He also had a bad injector and the effects were compounded by a higher altitude if I read it right.
He managed to find the only Toyota diesel mechanic in Mexico and his PZJ has more power than when he bought it.

Exactly , But the problem came upafter 400 miles again.
Now they are taking apart the pump,.....
We see what comes out .

Olibolly thanks for coming back. Most of us here are interested in diesel diagnostics and its a big help if we are kept informed.I hope you have some luck with the pumpstrip down.
