Hi...My brother and I are thinking about installing a garage door on an alley garage. The door dimensions are like 8 x 7 feet...enough for one car. How much should we expect to pay someone to install such a door (figure doors, opener, fitment, etc.). The door will not be decorative, just functional. No windows needed..

Thanks.

1,000 for door and opener is my guess. And that would be top end. You can get the door for a couple hundred as well as the opener. Do it yourself! It's so easy my wife could do it and she doesn't even know what a screw driver is.

Get out the yellow pages and look for a handy man that installs garage doors. He may have a very good used door at a great price. My father in law recently got a door that looked new and installed for about 1/2 the price they were selling for at home depot and lowes.

I had a two-car door installed for less than $600 from Lowe's a year or two ago. That was for taking apart/ hauling off old door, installing new door, but reusing my old opener.

I installed a 16 x 8 foot garage door - Wayne Dalton brand by myself. It is a fairly easy process.

Get out your tools and purchase a Wayne Dalton , or something comperable from Lowes or Home Depot. If you can keep a cruiser on the road you can install a garage door and opener. Do it yourself and save the money.

I'm getting a couple Clopay Flushline w/ window 12'w x 9'6"t installed + opener for around $1200 each -
