Ok finally got the twin sticks adjusted and the levers bent just so. I managed to blow out a wheel cylinder as well!?!!?!? Picked up a couple and now back in the game!

We PCS'd to Omaha, NE last year, and we came back to NOVA to do some maintenance on our house here. When we left, our 1996 FZJ80 was working fine. Was disappointed when I went to start it and nothing. Bought a new battery after charging the battery made no difference and battery health was questionable. Still didn't crank. Bought a reman'd Denso starter from Rockauto and just finished putting it in this morning, and it started right up! Needless to say, I was relieved and ecstatic. I was really unsure if I could accomplish this without my brother's help because I couldn't find detailed instructions on how to do it online or from the FSM, and most of my tools are in Nebraska. This is probably a piece of cake job for most of you guys, but I was uncertain on how to do it. Taking off the driver's side front tire to get access to the connecters and top bolt and then getting the bottom bolt from below and removing the starter from below was my method.

Question for the 80 series owners. Just talked to Pacer over the weekend and he mentioned a custom made upper pin for the parking brake which supposedly will make the brake more reliable. Do any of you guys have any info on this one. He couldn't remember who makes it.

Drained all this caramel out of the '78's tranny.

I added a sleeve to the end of the cable on the handle side and got better holding power on my parking brake. I'll get a pic for you tomorrow.

Thanks Patrick

Here you go. But this is the last step after you get the parking brake shoes adjusted correctly and only if tightening that nut all the way down doesn't get the brakes to hold the truck still in gear.

Just ordered the Superior Engineering kit from AU. I'll let you know how will it perform.

Opened up a quart of magnet paints chassis paint for a project, but was left with 3/4quart that would have gone to waste.
Rolled the remainder on the taco in prep for bedliner. I'll scuff it up before hand though.
Kinda like the color, but it wont last. Funky combo for a week
