Some help here please. I am looking at buying a warn upright winch. it is similar to a 8274, but looks older. It is labeled a series 8000.

my concerns are:
-is this comparable to an 8274 as far as ruggedness and line speed
-are parts available?
-can I retrofit solenoids and remote without a huge headache

I do like the classic looks for my FJ40, and I think I could get a very good price.

thanks

thats an old Warn Belview winch , Warn does not make any parts for this .

Indeed, that's a WARN Belleview. One of the best source for parts if the 4 Wheel Drive Center of Minnesota.

When these were introduced in 1959, they had a pull rating of 6,000 lbs. Later, the rating was upped to 8,000 lbs. (same as the M8274). The 8274 offered a more modern brake and power-in and power-out (the Belleviews were only power in).

I passed on the deal. Thanks for the info. I think I will hold out for a deal on an 8274
