Can't see it being the wiring, its dead simple. Checked all ground points and they are all grounded (test light to 12V+).

I want to thank everyone here for this most excellent thread. As I am completely, mechanically, clueless, I took my new (to me) 2002 with the JBL integrated Nav/stereo/heat/air, to Titan Motoring in Nashville, and asked them to delete the whole thing, including the speakers, and replace with afternarket. At first, they said they couldn't do that, but I showed them this thread and all the technical information and they said they'd work on it...

Not only did I get the delete, I got a killer Sony stereo with bluetooth, incredible speakers (including a new subwoofer and amp), they found the heat/air controls from an old 2000 (the lack of color on one of the knobs is very similar to how mine had faded in my old 2000)...

AND...

They figured out how to put a 2003 wheel on, with airbag, so that I now have stereo controls at the wheel.

YOU guys rock and so does Titan Motoring!

(Titan also completely re-did my 3 rows of seats with new leather and put in new trim so the whole 2002 LOOKS GREAT- and is a complete Unicorn!)

Like to see the steering wheel install.

I wasn't there when they did it, and they had to come up with a work around to get the airbag to work... harnessess were different between the years, and airbags were different sizes due to the cutout for the controls.

I can get a photo of what it looks like installed. Or, if you are truly interested, PM me and I can give you my advisor's (at Titan Motoring) name/number...

That is great to hear you found a shop to do that. I would bet most would not touch that project with a 10' pole. I am curious about the 2003 steering wheel also. I hope they gave you the old parts back so you can sell them.

Pictures of it on the vehicle front and side would be great. Thank you.

I hope this is what you're looking for, YardPig... Cause the heavens opened and I got drenched taking these, LOL.

Yes, and I am actually just about to post them in Classifieds... I have the airbag, the JBL integrated Nav with bezel, nav controller, speakers.

I was really thrilled when Titan changed their minds after reading this thread. They work on FJs as well, and didn't know about this forum, so I feel like I have created a monster <giggle>

By the way, this is what the original steering wheel looked like. I hated touching it, just texturally nasty, and it didn't rotate smoothly as it rubbed on the stem.
The new one works great.

Just finished connecting all the wires. Only one thing that i could not figure out. One of the wires i could not find. The slit where it was suposed to be was empty.

We need more info. Does the fan blow? What is the ambient temp? Does the defrost light and rear ac light come on?

The fan blows, defrost light goes on. Only the a/c button does not respond, hazard light and center diflock no problem.

Did you already double and triple check the wiring diagram? Did you have any extra wires that you couldn't identify? Did you have a few wires that were 3 in a connection?

Oke i checked all the cables again. The only cables that are left over are for the rear heater, i have only rear ac. And one green/white cable on plug 20d. I have one 4way connection: 11a,12a,8e,21g. And one 3way: 11g,22d,9b. On the foto were you wrote down the extra connections i see you connected 8e also to de 9b, so should that also be a 4 way connection? I also switched the rear heat button with the original rear ac button. The rear ac button is working and ligting up. But only blower in the back, no ac. Also i can inly put in fresh air mode.

Did you source a 3 knob that matched your existing 3 knob? Did it have either the same rear AC or rear heat button? See posts 136, 137 and 145. Another member had trouble with his. I wonder if maybe changing that button caused some issues? 8e is a ground and I tied it in with the other ground wires. On the schematic it doesn't show that it would effect anything but try to ground it anyway and see if it makes a difference.

Sorry i meant to say i added the button. It seems taht all the switches are there. Just the button was not there:
