Hi all - I’d like to upgrade my 2011 LX’s brakes ahead of summer camping season. I tow a 4200 lb camper in the summer through the Rocky Mountains and the factory brakes leave a little (lot?) to be desired. Yes, I downshift, take it easy and have a trailer brake controller.

I’ve seen folks upgrade to the Powerstop z36 Truck and Tow brakes or the 2016+ stock brakes with the larger calipers and rotors.

Which would you recommend? Has anyone had both and can compare? Thanks!

for 4200lb your stock brakes will do fine. If they're in good shape I wouldn't bother swapping them out, just stick to OEM. That said, I used the Z36 brakes on my 2009 LX570 and they were a big improvement over stock when towing. Especially when towing our 8200 lbs boat/trailer. No brake fade after multiple back to back stops. They were great. They also wore really well and didn't have any warping even after a couple years.
