There are price breaks at 10, 25, and 50 pounds . They do vary in price, black is the cheapest because of volume, I pay 3.25 a pound @ 50 lbs.
Cardinal makes 103 colors, 23 are shades of black, 16 variations of whites,
15 variations af gray, 5 reds , 5 blues, 5 greens, 5 yellows, the remaining 29 are an assortment of conservative colors. If you want a great assortment try NIC industries or Tiger drylac. NIC also known as prismatic has over 1100
colors and will color match a paint chip in powder for about a hundred bucks
plus powder. Tiger makes some really great FJ40 suitable colors that have a military-ish look about them, like the gray cruiser above, blueish grays and drab greens. (although I went with a blue)

And yes I do own a powder coat business

By the way, beautilful 40...

the powder is 10.00 a pound from cardinal no matter what color plus the guy who does it for me thats all he charges me for powder, even the candys. so if they charge extra that just profiet. just call cardnil or look it up they will tell you is all the same

tiger dry lac makes the epostrong filler. it's kind of hard to find on their website but if you call their 800 number they can help. we use it on large parts including aluminum and it works out pretty good overall. thanks

I have powder coated most of the small parts on mine. I used the Eastwood gun, an old kitchen oven, and get powders from Eastwood or Rosy's (check E-Bay).

Who ever said that powders are dull or flat have never tried the high gloss colors. High gloss black is like glass.

The hard part of large panel coating is getting an even coat of powder across the entire panel. Some places will pre-heat the larger items, pull them out and quickly apply the powder which melts on contact. This can make it easier to see the coverage, and control the depth of the powder.

Using an accurate non-contact infrared thermometer aids the coater in determining the true temp of the piece. Oven thermometers are not as accurate as measuring the temp of the piece itself. Temp is critical on larger pieces. Runs are also possible with powder!
