Hi everybody, nice reading this tread - a lot of cool rigs.

Unfortunately there are a lot of restrictions in Norway if the car is meant to keep the regplates.

I guess that's why mine is that modest. But then again - it get clean and neat.

fj 70 information

hi guys, im new in this forum, i own a 2007 japanese imported fj71, im planning on moving to the us and i want to take my truck with me, im looking for any information on paperworks or restrictions that apply to my truck in the us, thanks, ill send some pics, very nice truck

My LC7X

First is my old one, that I have sold away, LJ73 1989 with 3L motor, 2.8 l. diesel + Turbo-intercooler, 40mm body lift, and longer coil-spring for longer suspension travel. 38" tiers rims 15"x12" Custom flare fenders.

On the picture below, there are 35" tires wtih minum backspace

i see you are from Iceland

other than the overall coolness of your cruiser, i very much like your cruisers snorkel it's very , i was wondering, would you be able to tell us about the snorkel?

Snorkel

The snorkel is made of black plastic pipes, that are welded to geather with a so called "hot mirror", a plummer friend of mine did that job for me, it took about 15min to finish the pipes.
Then I bought the snorkel top at a local shop.

What size tires are those on the 78?

first pics in the sahara its 255/85 BFG MT, the later is 255/100 R16 XZL Michelin. They need some modifakation:

Finished chopping my rear quaters today, finished my rear bar and also chopped about 1'' our of the rear guards to get rid of rust and added flexy flares.

the front section by the wheel has me concerned, you wheel flexes back and up and it looks like there might be interference. i would suggest cutting the front edge on about a 40 degree angle...

But how come i always see the underside of the cars on this form have a ton of rust? Isn't there an undercoating that would help.. Also, does the fact that some of the cars on this forum off road in mud, or close to salt water add to the rust factor?

that would be like asking someone from Kuwait why their paint fades...

steel rusts when wet, so... add salt and the reaction is faster... so... if you live in a wet region the trucks will rust ... eventually... weither from the outside in or, takes longer, from the inside out...

+1 about the fading paint! Paint, plastics, windows seals, engine hosing, dashboard color, and even the rubber on the shock absorbers, all dry out or lose color or elasticity..
Stupid heat! I guess 47 degrees celsius for a couple of months and sand as fine as flour rubbing against the paint from shifting sands will do wonders for the exterior; or in your case water and salt to the chassis...

Mine isnt to rusty underneath, no salt on the roads here. Main rust was behind the factory flares which collect mud and crap, not to bad considering its 23 years old now.

I have considered that, with my tyres which measure about 35.8'' they JUST cleared the factory guards at the read, when I did the chop I choped the rear opening back about 20mm and made the bar to that, so should clear, if not i'll do some more chopping!

Very nice. I especially like the rolecage you have mounted. How is this attached? I see it runs to the sliders, is it welded there or do you have it rigged to be removeable?
