Bump TTT - Florence? Basha's Gold Canyon 9:00-ish?

Still on?

If this is still on, I might join up from Tucson. Where and when? Terry

Is it Florence for sure?

Well, considering I don't know the area, it's hard for ME to say. As I said in an earlier post, the 'run' description that Chuy posted in post #10 sounded interesting in terms of covering a few different areas. You guys would know better if THAT trip is appropriate for a day run, and could probably suggest a jump off point for it.

It would be nice if someone from the area could step up and put a concrete idea for meeting time and place together. Much better chance of making this thing happen.:)

I'm out, can't do it financially.

I am in but not running that many trails I could not be the one that makes the plans

I'm in.

Mark - we are pretty informal and loosely organized (euphemisim for disorganised), so this constitutes intensive advance planning:hhmm:. Since we have folks from both tucson and pheonix potentially interested, the florence area is a good option. That being said, the phoenix folks would likely gather at the Basha's grocery in Gold Canyon (just east of Apache Junction) on Hwy 60 and caravan :steer:to Cottonwood Canyon Road Trailhead, where we could meet with our southeren brethren from Tucson.

Perhaps Tools could post one of his maps?

As far as time, I'm totally worthless and frequently referred to as "the late Carl Miller" for obvious reasons:doh:. Although I have been known to be on time once or twice:eek:, but it was probably a mistake;).

P.S. - I just noticed my signature line:hillbilly:

We will be running out of good wheeling weather shortly so the time is right for a central AZ run. I have loose plans to go to the sand dunes this weekend, however if that falls apart I'll be there. Haven't been to the Coke Ovens in over 10 years but I remember it to be very scenic. I agree that the Basha's in Gold Canyon is a good meeting place because you can get food, gas, etc and be on your way. I'd recomend an 8:30 AM departure time so as to meet the rest of the group at the trail head at 9:00 AM. I should be able to confirm if I'm going by Friday.

I have never been to the coke ovens and would very much like to see them. T

I'm in Spike's boat...

But willing to help put this in concrete..;)
Sonic in Florence is only a couple of miles away, and easy to find for both groups, say 9:30?

I think I'm in the same boat. Now that I've "storaged" the 80, I find it even more difficult to put $$ in the tank.

Let's take roll call - who's in for a day in florence other than me, ttub, AZTony, Mark, Fumman, a.mus.ed andFJ45Dude Just trying to gauge PHX v. Tucson...

Mark,

sorry, I won't be able to make it to AZ for this weekend

I think you would enjoy Coke Ovens - I haven't been there for a while, but with the approach through Box Canyon, it has quite a variety of nice terrain - Box Canyon is officially "Scenic" in the Delorme Topoatlas :D

have fun

Count me in!

Mark and I will be coming down that morning from the Cave Creek area and we can meet in either Gold Canyon or Florence. Name the time and we'll be there.

If you see two old FJ45s going east on the 60, you are NOT seeing double!

Looking forward to the run.
Mike

Ill watch for you guys if youll be in the box canyon area of florence. Several of us will be riding quads Sat / Sun and camping overnight. Ill have my red Landcruiser with me. Stop and say Hi if you see us.

I'm not going to make it either, I have a Eagle Court of Honor for one of our Boy Scouts...someday soon I'm hoping it's one of my sons. I told them if they got their Eagles, I'd buy them Landcruisers...I just didn't say what size they would be. :D

Baggins, Splitshot - either of you interested in riding along? I'm broke too.

I'll likely be putting in a 14+ hour day tomorrow, after a long (60+ hour) regular week, so I may be out of commission anyway.

Meeting?

So is it the Sonic in Florence at 0930 on Sunday for the official meeting place?

Anyone using CB or 2meter radios, if so, what channel/freq? Terry
