I’m seriously considering selling the troopy. It’s served its purpose to me and I’d like to pass it along to someone else to enjoy.

I’d like to ask the group what you think it might be worth and the best venue to sell it. I’ve done some internet research on valuation and don’t see much of anything else like it.

Appreciate your thoughts.
Came to this thread for a "now I've decided to ship it to _____" post... but got this instead. Make sense though.

I've sold a few 70-series Troopys in the last several years. I can move freshly-imported project trucks pretty quick... for 20-25K depending on condition. We restored a Troopy (body, paint, seals, interior) and it never moved... did poorly at auction... and the flipper hasn't been able to sell it either. The market is softening for what I do. And I think a lot of Troopy buyers are actually looking for the project to make it their own.

Yours has a LOT going for it... ready to go on every level. 1HDT, Hercules, power and water. There's a niche buyer out there and a private sale is going to be your best bet. Publicize here and other forums... social media... and be patient. I have to think you you could fetch close to six figures... but cruiser heads often have rose-colored glasses about the value of each other's rigs when up for sale.

BaT has a somewhat helpful value guide... but none of them are quite like yours.

Yeah, a gonna ship to would have been a lot more exciting.

I really appreciate the BAT link as it gives a general idea although I think the truck is a bit of a unicorn. There were no corners cut in this truck…none. And it took me several years to quit running out of ideas to potentially improve it.

I have two other Land Cruisers and a daily drive diesel Jetta. I’m concerned that the truck will now start sitting which won’t be good for it. Ideally someone will buy it for its intended purpose which is adventure. I’d like to follow along with someone else that would enjoy it. The truck has a lot left to give.

Sure appreciate your input…..

Sad to hear this, but I totally get it. Best to get it to someone who'll use it.

In addition to the BaT search linked above, you can try different search terms (if you didn't already) and get a few more hits:

Or you could compare to current asking prices in Europe, but there aren't a lot of comps. There's a pop-top camper Troopy for sale in Italy right now for about US$52,000. Maybe not as well outfitted as yours, and with the non-turbo 1HZ, but the closest thing I could find. It's here:

An importable HZJ75 Troopy with few or no modifications but still in decent condition will cost about 30-40,000 Euro these days from what I see. The motor upgrade and camper outfit of yours are value added to that for sure.

the truck is a bit of a unicorn
Agreed.

Found a possible comparable on the fit garage site listed as sold back in 2022 for - list price of $89,500. Uncertain of final sale price or absolute parts comparisons to yours, but less stock than the many on BaT. Those folks were very helpful in my search for a troopy back in 2021, along with Scott at EcoOffroad.

I believe I saw a link on expedition portal of a similar vintage showing a built troopy in the $100k+ realm, but again, unknown direct comparison and not a current market capture.

Covid pricing is gone, one needs to be realistic in today's market

Having been in , and out, of the market during Covid, I’ll defer further pricing to those with more immediate experience.

Hey, thanks for this. This troopies inside was built by goose gear at the same time mine was there.

Sure has a slick you tube video and photos. I need to find someone that can put together a similar “marketing package.”

Your build thread and travels speak for themselves- better than any "marketing package"! Your troopy is so NICE. If I had known this is what you would do I would have waited and bought yours versus slowly cobbling mine together.

Your truck is truly amazing; don't know how to put a value on it, but I can't imagine there are too many out there like yours. The problem will be finding a buyer that understands what you have done and what the true worth is.

Cruisers like this one are not really affect by market fluctuations . Try to buy a donor to start with and build something like this . It will always end up with spending 6 figures and a ton of hours .

Hopefully so as I wish the seller the best of luck selling this beautiful Cruiser.

Nice cruiser. In your case you will have to be patient because the majority of people will not be able to come up with the cash. Would love that but it wouldn’t fit in my garage, and I would have to sell my Ute to buy your troopy and I would have to be patient to find the right buyer for my Ute, be in the same boat as you 🤣😐
