Just reviewing stats...there are 12 users with over 1000, and many more with 500+. These large PM boxes are causing problems for the server.

Vendors will be capped at 1000. Silver/Gold star members will also be dropping, likely 500. I'm reviewing 'acceptable' levels with my sysadmin to see where numbers need to go in order to stop the db issues that have been happening recently.

There IS an option to download your messages. You should also be clearing your SENT folder, since those count towards your total.

My PM box is limited to 200.

As an additional note, if you've not cleared your PM box down to appropriate levels prior to the change, you have NOT lost any of your PM's. However, you cannot send or receive any until you remove messages.

The option to download/archive is available. Process is simple:
1> select the messages to download
2> in the 'option' box below the message list (right side), select Download as XML/TXT/CSV
3> select Go

The file will be named privatemessages_USERNAME_DATE. Simple enough. I suggest trying all three to see which best suits your needs. CSV is common for importing into a spreadsheet (CSV = Comma Separated Value) and is what I use.

Once you've downloaded, confirm the file info is correct. THEN, select those same messages and delete them from the folder.

Remember to clear your your SENT folder...that's the most common culprit for full PM boxes.
 
Is there a way to delete more than 30 at a time? Otherwise it's gonna take forever to clean up our boxes.
 
I like to keep the sent items and delete the inbox because the contents of the sent items usually includes the original in-message.

Well crap. I'm at 699. guess I better get on that.

OK Got it down to 489. I'll continue to try to eliminate some when I have a little more time.

X2. Would love to do a mass delete after downloading them.
 
yes...I believe so...

In the PM folder, upper right side...you can click the checkbox and it will select that entire page of messages...then go thru and un-check those you want saved...as you reach the bottom, you'll see where it says Go (30)...

DO NOT click Go...instead, select the next page...again, select the top checkbox to select all messages, unselect those you wish to keep and when you reach the bottom, you'll see Go (57)

200 or 250 max at a time I believe....but that should speed it up :)
 
Damn, that took forever. I didn't catch Woody's post about using Next Page until now. Anyway, it's cleaned out now.
 
Whoa I had over 600. I am now down to 49. That should help.
