My wife and I are in. I nabbed an awfully clean FJ55 a year ago and have barely put two tanks of gas through it as my FJ62 is my daily driver. We've been wheeling and camping out of our FJ40 in the San Juans of Colorado for over 10 years. Northern NM will be a great change of pace for us. We too are empty nesters, so the date doesn't matter except for late July. Going to AK for a fishing trip.

If you go to St. George you should meet with @fj55-100.
I connected with Evan a few weeks ago. Brought my pig by his shop to introduce myself and show him the work. Great guy!

Agree we should do PP in June or early July.

Dates for PP2022 that work for me:
1) Traditional Father’s Day period 6/19
2) Months ago blocked 6/23-26
4) July 4th week (work shutdown that week)

Dates that do NOT work for me:
1) 7/27-31: 100’s in the Hills in Silverton, CO
2) Also the week before or after HIH

I was at the local building supply this afternoon and stopped at the office to talk to the owner, who has an immaculate FJ40. When I mentioned that a group of FJ55s might be in the area this summer, he told me his family had one when he was growing up - it was the vehicle he learned to drive in. He said it was a beast.

Preferred PP22 dates would be early or mid July.

Dates that I cannot participate:
June 18th-30th. Going to Mexico...

I'm doing my best to make this one. Trying to get all the bugs out and a top made before then. I can't do July 4th. Mid, late June works. Holy cow. Hall pass requisition has been submitted to the Minister of War and Finance(wife)

6/23-6/26 works best for me. Will be overseas at trade show until June 18 so Father’s Day dates out for me.

Wasted some time this morning tallying up Pig Party 2022 chatter contained in emails since January 1. Seems like overwhelming site preference is for northern NM/southwestern CO.

Dates are the issue and our emails (from riderjgs, LostOnTheLlano, DTC72, Hank Tank, sahelzer, Lifelong40Fan, PabloCruise, Pigeaten, Megadoomer, RUSH55, landcruisnman and Greenbeast don't provide clarity. Half can make any date we've discussed, the other half have an issue with one or more dates. There are a varying 8 or 9 of us who've weighed in who are available each weekend from 6/17 through 7/17. But we haven't heard definitively from some of our regulars like @scrapdaddy, @J Mack, @fj55-100, @bobm and @remy1974, @Gordobe, @fj55tlc, @Voodoocruisers and @abqcruiser and their input would be important as would input from any others who plan to attend.

Here are the weekends under consideration per the emails, all listed as Thurs-Sun dates, and the number of folks so far who say they could make a particular weekend work. I'll also note that last year's PP in the Black Hills was spread over a couple of weekends to allow for broader participation with some of us with time on our hands attending both weekends. To further confuse things, our 2020 Magruder Corridor Pig Party was in late August.

6/16-19 (8)
6/23-26 (9)
6/30-7/4 (8) extra day with the holiday
7/7-10 (9)
7/13-17 (8)

My attempt to facilitate some closure that will allow travel planning and any necessary wrenching, locals and semi-locals to think about trails and activities and folks like RUSH55 to set a target for getting his Pig together and joining us.

I can make all the above dates work except for the last one in July. I prefer the first two dates in June. NM/CO is good. Can’t wait!

I say let Riderjgs pick the place and date for this year, so everyone can move on with plans. My opinion, too many cooks in the kitchen. Next year someone else can step up and make plans. After picking dates we need someone to pick out some trails, preferable someone local. You can't make everyone happy all of the time and maybe some won't be able to make this year, so be it. Personally, I don't have any plans that can't be bent, but if I do then we don't go this year.

One last thing.... I believe BobM is holding out on us. I believe he IS flexible and I want to see him do the Limbo! :)

I might describe it as too many indians and not enough chiefs. I also nominate @riderjgs to make the call on place and time. If NM/CO, work with @4Cruisers and @abqcruiser to make sure they can attend since they’re the local guys.
My wife and I are available any time. Even though I don't own an FJ55 I can help with some trail ideas in northern New Mexico. We're always open to wheeling and camping.

Well this took a turn I didn’t expect. I’d like to wait until a few more ā€œregularsā€ weigh in on dates etc. to accommodate as many Pig pilots as possible. Also would want to see what works for @abqcruiser and @4Cruisers.
As I mentioned earlier Bonnie and I currently plan to attend Rising Sun’s Train Run which traverses back country along the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad between Antonito CO and Chama NM. That takes place June 9-12 and will give us a chance to scope out that area. The Rising Sun group plans to base camp near Sublette NM right on the CO/NM border. I’ve only been on pavement in northern NM in recent years so would have to rely on Mark and 4Cruisers for other ideas. Personally I wouldn’t mind a base camp year like we did at Rico and the North Rim but am open to moving around if that’s the group’s desire.

I'm doing the RS train run also. It would be cool if PP2022 was Fathers day weekend then I would just make it a week long trip south. I could get in some biking in, But I'm open to other dates.

There are dirt and gravel back roads all over the area, so it would be easy to piece together a nice scenic loop or two. And the distances aren't too bad for the paved stretches in between.
