Go to my website in my sig line. Click on the Fj55 that pops up in the boxes that appear is one for the autometer gauges.

Dash has finally been painted green since this picture, and I still need to recut the gauge panel to fit the dash better. But the gauges and indicator lights are where I want them. I had to relocate the mounting tabs to put the gauges where I wanted them.

Auto Meter....
Not as pretty as the above, but hey it works. And it was like this when I bought it 20 years ago as well. Well, except for the duct tape repair work on the dash pad.
Only thing missing from back then is the ex's garter belt around the tach....ahhh sweet memories.

is that a GM steering column from a pickup?? and what does it lead to? some power steering perchance?
if so, what options do i have and what did you use since you seem to have figured it out already..

Yeah, the column came out of an 88 suburban with automatic. It goes to a 68 Impala? box. I made my own shaft to box adapter, and the original GM firewall support worked for the firewall. It wasn't as hard as it looks.
As far as options go, skies the limit. If your still using OEM that can all be adapted to a GM box, and of course a pump. If you got a SBC even easier.

OK, this is my dash I made out of .25" aluminum. I used hole saws and a drill press to cut all the holes. The panel has green leds for the turn signals and a blue for the high beams. It is painted with high metallic silver base coat and then cleared to match all my other silver pieces in the 40. It is populated with VDO gauges.

I just finished mine the other day. I had to cut out a small section of the pedal bracket behind the gauges to make it fit. I'll get it mounted in the dash today.

Gauges mounted (I thought I had room for 4 of the 2 1/6" guages, but could only make 3 fit. I'll have to mount the volt meter somewhere else):
